Plumber has messed up, what are my options?

Really like that! Lots of detail on the tiling which explains the duration. Is it a curbless shower too?

`Possible`fix is to grind/sand the edge of the bath where the panel is too tight? (if it is not too much i `might` not notice)
Maybe???
Cutting the panel to height and sticking the piece onto the back is another possible `fix`I have done this before when bath has been too low or floor tiles have been too high (too much adhesive)
Re mastic: i Would have used White tbh
Good idea re sanding bath underside edge. It might only take a few mm so when its pushed in it wont bow.

As for the silicone, a blind man would love to see it. I would have gone white too.

Annoying as the bathroom looks good.

Pretty much, there is a shower tray but the floor has insulated cement boards and uf heating that was screeded in. So it's level with the finished floor now within about 1/2mm.

Looks so good - is that a digital shower too?

As much as it sucks Id pull the bath out and take my time cutting the tiles slightly higher. the panel has a nice edge to it at the bottom without silicone which you'll lose cutting the panel.

First of all, that's a really nice bathroom, you should happy with it and I can understand any disappointment with any imperfections.

What is wrong with the silicon?
Need to make sure I'm getting it done right if it has to be redone.

The silicone is just a bit rough in places, for example look at the vertical bit circled:

The silicone is already peeling off the grout and water will get in there and collect leading to mould eventually, quicker if it were a shower. There's a little bump in the Fugi tool for the exact purpose of smoothing these out. Plus there's evidence of some rework there - with silicone it's best to remove and apply again if it's not right, depends on how picky you are.

A purely personal thing but I hate clear silicone, looks like snot :D. Why wasn't white or even grey silicone not used? Would have matched a bit better imo.

As for the point you really asked, are you sure the panel doesn't pop in under the edge of the bath so there's no removing of tiles or trimming required? It might be designed to be a bit proud and you install the panel by putting the bottom edge of the panel in first at an angle, position the top lip of the panel in place under the bath and using suction cups you pull the bottom of the panel towards you to it's final position. Just a thought, I could be quite wrong.

Best of luck getting it sorted and enjoy your lovely bathroom.

Have used a mix of grey, white and clear throughout the bathroom.
Plumber recommended clear as he thought white would not look good on grey tiles.

bath to wall = clear
sink cabinet to wall = clear
tile to window = clear (this actually looks clear, not snotty like the rest, although it was a different product)
sink basin to vanity = white (although you can't really see that)
tile to tile = grey
tile to shower tray = grey
shower tray to floor = grey
tile to floor = grey (had to do a couple of layers as some of the gaps were quite big)
toilet to floor = clear

I thought that the clear would dry clear, but as said above it does look a bit snotty, so white/grey would have been the better choice in hindsight.

also in typical fashion, I messaged him this morning to check if he was still coming this week, and he replied over an hour later saying he will be here in 10 minutes, that was 30minutes ago, sill not here.
no concept of organisation or time-keeping, or communication.

I think I would ease the bottom of the panel. Add a vertical batten to catch the side and some blocks to catch the bottom where the clips won't attach. Magnetic catches? Then silicone the bottom.
I think it's 50/50 on blame. The bath should have been level but the tiler knew early on he was having to adjust his cuts, he could have stopped.

I honestly don't know how they stay in business sometimes.

I honestly don't know how they stay in business sometimes.
Because there is a shortage of trades.
I know when I was in school (25ish years ago) there was no push towards trades at all.
whereas when I speak to older generations they tell me a completely different story.

and now we are in a position where there aren't enough tradesman around and it's not going to get any better, because the younger generation aren't interested in learning trades because they all think they can become famous on instragram or tiktok.

so the plumber came yesterday, I wasn't in but the missus told him to ring me, he rang me after he cut the bath panel, no discussion about it, he just cut the bottom off it and siliconed it in.
he was complaining about using white silicon, saying that it will look crap.

I'm really not happy with the job, the panel isn't fit uniformly (bigger gaps in some places than others)
The siliconing he has done looks very sloppy.
And that is after he commented about the silicon around the top of the bath should have been left to him

@MassiveJim I'm guessing we are of similar age, and was told the same thing at school.

To be honest I always did think teachers are full of ****, and my opinion on that hasn't changed.

If you cant live with it.Pop it back off. Remove the silicone.Re position the clips or add a few more. He's not coming back out for a couple of mil. A bit of a pain but it's probably better than having to listen to excuse after excuse why he can't make time.
