Point and click adventure games

Well they are in english now simon the sorcerer 3-5 atm. Some of them i didnt like tbh but i think the last one showed promise.

I played sts2 i believe without the voice overs. I did get the voice over edition but i have still yet to really play it. Should because it has chris barrie (red dwarf rimmer) in it as simon.

Sanitarium was one point and click adventure that was very underrated. Its available on GOG.

Lucasarts have reworked Monkey Island 1 & 2 as special editions with more fancier graphics :)

Newer ones of note:
Machinarium
Tiny Bang Story
Gemini Rue
Primordia

i didnt like the new versions of monkey island, didnt like the gfx and the new music wasn't as good either. But i did enjoy this http://gratissaugen.de/ultimatetalkies/monkey1.html takes files from the special edition (required to buy special edition) and puts them into the original game making a "talkie" version of the original monkey island runnable in scummvm, basicly what it would have been like if it was released as talkie when the original cdrom version came out. played it on my android tablet!

lechucks revenge version also available. yeah you can do voices with original gfx in special edition of LR, but you lose the edge smoothing of scummvm, your forced to have subtitles, and you cant run it on android!

Ones that haven't been mentioned that supposed to be decent:

Post Mortem(prequel to Still Life 1+2), Still Life 1/2, Dark Fall: Lost Souls, Scratches, The Last Crown.

I've not played these ones yet but will sometime.:)

Loved the gabriel knight games so will look at that. :)

Yeah all the classics like Sam and Max and Full throttle (I actually really like the Dig - wish they had made that into a movie!).

Lots to look at! Hmm... at this rate I'll be kept very busy!

Yes I had a look at the secret files a while back, Lost Horizon stemmed from that didn't it?

Didn't realise point and click adventure games were still so popular! They hardly get talked about! I knew I could rely on your guys for help! :D

Yeah Grey matter deffinitly worh playing, animation a bit clunky but story line is solid, Jane Jensen is also working on a couple more adventure games now too, helped with kickstarter. http://pinkertonroad.com/

I dont think Adventure games completly died but they were revived somewhat about 5 years ago ish largely due to the iphone, tablets and the ds etc expanding the audience of gaming.

I quite enjoyed "Hector:badge of carnage".

It's basically a string of poo jokes moulded into a point and click adventure. If you like point and click adventures and you like poo jokes, you'll like this game. The only problem is it's a bit overpriced. Stick it in your steam wishlist and then grab it when it comes on sale.

If you aren't doing it right now, go off and buy The Walking Dead like these fine folks have recommended. Game of 2012 for me and there's a good 15 hours in there across the five episodes.

Also check out 'Yesterday'. It's from Pendulo studios (the guys who made the Runaway series), but it doesn't suck like their previous offerings after the original Runaway.

In fact - did you play Runaway?

Well thats my weekend sorted.

I think because it starts off very slowly. I've tried it a few times but gotten bored within an hour or so.

It's so worth playing all the way through, it's a brilliant game with a great story line!!! (in fact having watched Prometheus last night and currently trawling through the thread for it the writing team could have done worse than borrow from this game!!!)
