After I took my test, the examiner said if I got caught speeding twice within a year, they'll take my license away. I haven't been caught yet so all good. However, does this apply to other offences? I was at a red light and I thought it was green so I pulled off (the particular traffic light did have one of those small camera attached to it. :( (Yes, am very stupid) What is the worse that could happen? If I get caught doing that again, does I have to say bye bye to my license?

Cheers.

Yes it applies to all endorsable offences - basically, if you get 6 points, it's bye bye.

The small camera object on top of a traffic light is not a red light camera.

If you see this (Well, the unburned version ;)) behind the lights then it's bad. However the ones on top of the lights are fine.

I'd do your best not to get any points. I passed the two year barrier in December 2005, but got an SP50 (3 points) in January 2005 so it was pretty nerve wracking really thinking that I could easily get my license returned to provisional status.

Yeh. I just had one of them stupid moments. I really felt like a nub.

lol @ the thought of some chav burning a red light camera. Now that really is brainless.
Just what I was thinking! WTF! I can "understand" burning speed cameras, but there's nothing wrong about red light cams!

Is that a red light camera? There was one of those just up the road from my house in Christchurch and it was a speed camera, although someone had taken a BB gun and smashed the lens :D

IIRC the red light cameras are the same basic shape but have a 'slit' instead of two circular lenses.

They must be able to use them as speed cameras as well, the one I was referring to was on a road with no traffic lights. It had the painted lines on the road too.

Don't they snap you if they sense you go across the line on red?

Why destroy it? It serves a valid purpose.

Like I saw a Mind The Gap sign vandalised in a train station before so it read "**** The Gap". What the hell is the point, would they prefer to slip and fall in the path of a train then?

I think all traffic cameras record speed but theres no photo taken unless its a red. Not sure if they then prosecute for both if you were speeding as well, its free money so I guess so :p

You actually get 0.75 of a second of redness until it gets you. So you have to be seriously in the red. One thing I've noticed since moving to London is that everyone goes through the ambers, and half chance their luck on an early red too.
