Poles

It's not like they have diplomatic immunity or something—tell the police?

actually... although they don't have technical immunity, they do have polish driving licences ( i hope), and as such, the paperwork required to be filled in by the british police to get anything done about it in poland on the drivers licence pretty much ensures the police over here will do fek all.

Look no body saw them throw anything. their behaviour was no worse than many English kids in this country.

Why is it all foreigners must be assumed guilty from the start?

Easy to pick on imo!

There are some nut jobs on the road from outside the UK though, like overtaking a bus in a single lane in a banged out vauxhall moving over to the other lane causing cars to slam on and swerve. Also reversing until you hit something, then move on, oh and pulling out of junctions THEN looking. Aaah, wonderful.

Racism starts at home kids, as does poor spelling and grammar.

You seem to be more annoyed that this was done by someone that wasn't British. That aside it is a very unlucky situation to be in, but since you didn't get the plate or any useful information all I can see that has come of this is you looking like a racist with a dented car. Chin up, get over it.

A) I feel sorry for the OP. That sucks. Anybody caught doing this kind of thing needs a good telling off, one way or another. It doen't matter what race/age/gender etc we're talking about, they still deserve smack down.

B) I don't think in this context that the OP was at all racially biased, they were merely Polish people driving in a car. An observation if you will. Any resultant or apparent racial ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ (< cat leaning on keyboard) misunderstanding should be put down to the fact that the poor guy is obviously angry/shocked etc at why someone would do such a moronic thing as this. It is a rant, not a statement generalising a particular group of people to be thugs by their nationality and said ways.

C) I'd be pretty sure that the people in the offending car DID throw something at the OP's car given the circumstances. A piece of rouge flying debris, oh please!

I don't see how his commentary is any more racist that the standard "Lazy Brit" diatribe many are fond of in here... or do you not consider characterisations and generalisations of people YOU identify with as racist?

I used to know a couple of Polish people. One of them, who was very hard-working and conscientious, moved to Scotland. The other, who was a bit of a lazy sod, remained in London. Of course, they don't talk to each other very much now, as they are Poles apart.

don't worry, I've phoned the taxi company and they said it'll be here in five minutes.

Do foreigners have to do any test or lessons to drive here, or can they just use their home licence?

Considering how traffic laws and driving attitudes differ across the globe surely all foreign licence holders should go through some re-training before being let loose on the roads.

And stop jumping on the guy for blaming poles, it was a polish car so what do you expect him to think. It's no different from people blaming chavs all the time.

he's not saying it's racist or anything all he is saying is for example if you went on holiday would you go round smashing up the locals cars. all he was saying is that they have no respect.

There is a special onus on foreigners to behave and treat us with respect because they are guests here. If you are a guest in someone's home you should be respectful - or sod off back where you came from :)
I must have missed the part where you (or anyone else, for that matter) owned the whole country. Most foreigners here own or rent their own place much like most British people. There's no "special onus" on them to comply with the law any more than there is for someone who's lived there for their whole life.

What could they learn? Nothing. They already know how to drive, hence they passed in their country of origin. You don't need more lessons to learn how to drive on the left or right hand side of the road.

I some how doubt that Poland has the same amount of traffic as we do here in the UK. I also suspect that may have an entirely different attitude to driving, have they for example had drink driving is bad drilled into them for years.

We have enough bad drivers on the roads, why let people drive who might not have even met the low standards of the UK test.

Just taught a lesson in humility to be thankful to have an opportunity to come to a place like this to work and live and not harass the people that already live here and work hard to make sure this country stays a good place to live.

They were in a car with Polish plates. In the UK. Presumably this means that the car was bought in Poland. And shipped to the UK.

I doubt very much that they relish the opportunity to come "to a place like this to work". I imagine they probably already had enough money to buy a car in Poland and then ship it to the UK.

All I would say is that you get idiots everywhere.

I think when people talk of the "Lazy Brit", quite often they are an employer, or have first hand knowledge of the Polish workforce. Now I don't think that in general there is a vast difference in attitude between the average Polish worker and the average British worker. However, given that if an employer is interviewing for a job and one is a person motivated into travelling and living in a different country to work, it might explain the perception.

Driving lessons don't teach you an 'attitude to driving', driving lessons teach you how to control a car. I don't need a driving lesson to tell me that drink driving is bad. If we have so many bad drivers on the roads, its time to revise our 'low standards' rather than interdicting others from using our roads.

Facts are not allowed when talking about race or religion. The fact that its always a black kid killed in gun violence in certain areas of certain cities is simply because thats what the papers report

Or that more black teenagers are convicted of breaking laws is because Police officers are racist

I'm pretty sure it's because there is huge income disparity between ethnicities, and poverty is the biggest cause of crime. If more blacks are poor, then more blacks will commit crime: to claim that this is due to some innate deficiency is at best ignorant and at worst racist.
