Polishing exhaust

Dirty sods! You're dirtier than my exhaust actually :p

Right, just bought a nice big tub of copper grease from the bay (I'm guessing this is ok to use on the exhaust bolts) and have got some ramps coming on Saturday... so looks like I'm all set :D

Not looking forward to removing the cat. Those are going to be some stubborn bolts :(

if u have some already, use T cut, its a cutting paste which brings any metal up like new. i use it on alloy all the time.

Quoted for truth.

Much cheaper than these exhaust cleaners that you can buy and does exactly the same thing.

Ashley exhausts use Tcut on their product line as a final polish before shrink wrapping them up!

If you can get to them, go and cover them in WD40 now :)

Made my black exhaust come out brand new.

Good call, i've got this stuff, works great :)

Rather than create a pointless thread, I thought I'd bump this one... pictures to come tomorrow anyway :)

However, I think I broke the standard exhaust. It sounds like (the car is too low to get under to check it properly  ) it's blowing at the cat... certainly smells like it too!

Clickage

Went out to wash the car before, booted it down a dual carriageway up to the speed limit and noticed it was a little (a lot) raspier than before. I head off to find some tunnels and proceed to waste fuel while grinning like a madman at the noise.

Get home, pull onto the driveway where it just gets worse after it scrapes along the curb. Sounds awesome at high revs... kinda like a Buddy Club on a Honda! Low revs are just embarrasing though.

Oh, the rough starting is because I turned the ignition on once before I recorded the video... hence the fuel pump not priming again when I was recording the video.

Yeah, it does sound nasty under 4000rpm. On the roads when booting it, it sounds much better.

I've always loved the sound of Honda's with Buddy Club zorsts! But I couldn't live with one everyday. My new zorst is supposed to be quite quiet, which is good.

Still going to beat the de-cat out though ;)

Oh, just e-mailed you btw.

Sounds like it has a hole somewhere. :p

You don't say :p

Ooops, you should be able to get chance to check it over this weekend though if your ramps turn up!

Any chance of a quick word on msn or can i email you? Ta.

Well, I'm off on Monday so if my ramps turn up tomorrow I'll get under it on Monday and *try* to swap the exhausts over. :)

It's funny actually... I had the SEi for a year, had mega plans for it but didn't have the chance to see them through. I've had the GSi for a month and already, it's coming along nicely.

And yep, sure, e-mail me.

My username @yahoo.com.

El, did you get my e-mail?

If you sent it to hotmail, no, as I don't read the emails in there, its nothing but spam :p

EDIT: Read it now, yeah I already know where yours is :p

Good good... that wouldn't happen to be because I just gave you directions would it? ;)

Anyway, just thought it would be a good idea to actually have a reason for bumping this thread...

So here's a few pictures of the exhaust before cleaning. Notice the standard rubber hanger alongside the nice new polyflex hanger. De-cat in the middle there.

Only bad point is that there's a middle box... that's going to block some noise :(

3.5" of pure sex!

There's a manifold, downpipe and centre pipe in there somewhere...
