This might seem like a random thread (well it is), but I was just writing down a mobile number from my phone and as I was writing it, I was thinking about me crossing the 7's and the fact that I don't see it at all in everyday life... Although for a long time I have crossed mine for some reason. I'm not really sure why I do it but have done for as long as I can remember.

Apparently...
Wikipedia said:
Most people in Europe, Latin America, and New England, write 7 with a line in the middle, sometimes with the top line crooked. The line through the middle is useful to clearly differentiate the character from the number one, as these can appear similar when written in certain styles of handwriting. This glyph is used in official handwriting rules for primary school in Russia.

I don't know anyone else that does this apart from myself so....

Do you cross your sevens?

a) Yes, as I'm weird.
b) No, as I'm normal.

PS. I know this is probably one of the more random poll requests but if a passing mod sees this, could this be made into a poll please? (preferably with no pancake option :D)

No I don't. I have friends who do though, they say it makes it easier to distinguish between 1,2 and 7. I don't really have a problem with it, so I don't bother.

Not often, but I try to.

Reason being? Because a lot of people seem to keep double checking with me when I write down an uncrossed-seven...

Yeah I don't do it to distinguish, as if you can't tell the difference between 1 and 7 you're either silly or someone's handwriting is rubbish.

I think I decided at some point when I was young I was going to be cool and different, ever since I have crossed them :p

You know I may have subconsciously done that! :D

Always have since I can remember, also do my 4's like that 4<-

instead of like this

crude i know :P

I backwardsdes my threes.

:)

I kid, but what I find weird is when people write 'Z's like the defunct letter yogh. Like this. People and their crazy attempts at reinventing letters.

Also I write 7s like a normal person.

I used to cross my Sevens. That just kind of stopped over the past few years, I think.

I think I should start crossing them again. I can't event ell the difference between my own ones, twos and sevens, S and Zs.anymore.

a)

I can remember that I used to write my sevens without crossing them when I was younger (when I was in primary school I think), but at some point I started crossing them and have been ever since (probably the 'cool' feeling for me too :p ).

I can't think of anyone I know who crosses theirs apart from me.

I cross 7s, not sure what posessed me to start doing it though.

Also i never dot my i and write lowercase 't' as a cross, I have picked up some terrible writing habits :p

Yes, for more than thirty years. I started doing it at school. I also do the rarer thing of crossing "Z" as well.

I do but I was brought up on the Soviet education system before I moved to UK since that's how they roll down there.
