I'd like to know how strict the testing ban is. Are Ferrari allowed to give him an old 2008 spec car to play with for a couple of weeks to work on fitness? What's the fastest thing he can drive within the testing ban?

This will be a big factor imo. If he can get into a car (even an older one) then he'll be able to train up and give himself a chance.

lol wut? if he can do this in the rain when he didnt need to push and not fall of the track even though he was pretty much power sliding im sure he can finish a race aslong as his car doesnt suffer from a mechanical failure or a crash because some young gun wants to race the master.

You have to take everything into account including the things you said above, the regular farrari drivers are not doing too good with this years car so I don't see how a driver (even Schumacher) that's not raced F1 for 3 years can get anywhere near the podium and IMO he would do well just to finish.

It'll be interesting to see how Hamilton (in a now competitive car) and Schumacher stack up against each other, I reckon the Germans would win that particular war....

Can't wait to see! :)

I think Hamilton will finish ahead of Schumacher mainly because Schumacher will tire towards the end of the race.

I still think he will finish in the points, my only worry is he bins it, and with it being a street circuit, there isn't a whole lot of run off for him. If he makes it to a 2nd and 3rd race i think it will be interesting though.

Keeping in mind Valencia doesn't really have any high speed corners that will make his neck go... I think he will finish in the points. It really depends whether Ferrari can get him out on their test track in a F2008 so he can learn to be fast again.

I think given the car improving maybe 3rd at best. I do wonder with the testing ban though can they mackle a 2008 car with some 2009 bits and stick some slicks on for him to get some miles under his belt. I'm sure Ferrari can probably work something out within the rules ;)

When was the last time he drove an F1 car? Did he have any involvement in the 2008 car for example where he was a lot more visible?

He last drove in 2008...

I dont think they are allowed to do any running on slicks, they will have to use inters/wets in the old car iirc.

Any outing in slicks is considered testing, from some stuff i read a while ago. I could be wrong though!

Whatever happens; it'll be entertaining.

If he wins, ha, showed you Kimi!
If Kimi beats him, ha, score one for the Finn
If he does terribly, laughter as Sutil beats the multi-world-champ
etc.

I see no way this can't be good.

I think he'll probably bring it home just behind Kimi this race, and beat him next. I also predict we'll see Ferrari win before the end of the season.

He won a Kart race the other week, he is still very sharp and surprised himself. 20,000 RPM, super sticky slicks that last 15 minutes provide a good fitness test. Button used Karts off season for training. Then we had a 19 year old do OK in F1 with no testing. Mansell was quicker than schumacher in a come back race in 1994 aged 41 after retiring 2 years earlier, so he could be up there.

On the podium. But depends what the car is like.
He better than Hamilton at getting a dog of a car time after time into the points. Something very few other drivers are.

In the points. Whilst he isn't going to be at full fitness I think his skill and experience will more than make up for it.
If Alguersari can go from no experience to keeping pace in one of the slower cars over the space of the weekend I have no doubt that Schumacher of all people can learn the car over a weekend.
