I would really like to know what peoples thoughts are on this please,

Could this be made into a poll please :)

What is the most important factor in a computer game,

1)Gamplay

2)Graphics

3)Both are equally as important (Gameplay & Graphics)

Personaly for me I'd go with 1) Gameplay.

Personally i think it all depends on the game, lumines is basic, doesn't have great graphics, but has excelent gameplay, GoW has 'OK' gameplay, but nobody would look at it twice if it didn't look like it does.

It depends on the game but i guess they both compliment each other. Good gameplay only gets better when you have something nice too look at :)

Obviously its gameplay, but i prefer a mix of both, lets me know things are moving forward.

For instance if the original halo had never come out and they now released it on the 360 with the same graphics and res it had on the Xbox then no one would buy or enjoy it surely. :)

If youve got good gameplay and bad graphics i think thats better than great graphics and bad gameplay

so i conclude both are good but i see gameplay as a need and graphics as a want

Gameplay is obviously king, but a powerful system capable of generating detailed and immersive worlds can provide a better gameplay experience.

Gameplay is far more important, however, good graphics only add the the experience. Terrible graphics can bring a game down some what, but only if they make playing the game hard.
As said, some games suit simple graphics far better than others.

Pretty graphics are always nice but gameplay is soooooooo important.
I would have to say that the graphics do need to be at a reasonable level too

'votes for 1'

Changed my mind gameplay gameplay gameplay but you do need an acceptable level of graphics

3 here aswell.
Always think you need a good balance of gameplay and graphics, amonst other things depending on game type of course. For example in an RPG you need a great story above great graphics, but say in a simple puzzle game its all gameplay. Would you now pay £40 for an old computer game with its 8 bit graphics poor sound but great gameplay?

There's a good reason why I regard Shenmue as my favourite game of all time, it has fantastic gameplay.

and my god it's still a looker graphics wise.

1) Gameplay.

Graphics can be used to enhance gameplay - e.g. in the old days the shift from 2d scrolling shooters to the 3d FPS' we have today. But by themselves are add very little to the gaming experience.

Depends,

When someone disses your favourite game for having rubbish graphics, People say "well the gameplay is what matters"

and vice versa.

Gameplay all the way for me, when I get a new PC game, I usually turn all the settings to the lowest anyway so makes no odd's.

It is nice to look at great graphics for the first time and go "Wow!" but after 20mins you've seen it all and thats when gameplay is important.
