Jaws first followed closely by JP1.

I've never understood why people rate Duel so highly. The guy in the car must have been the worlds worst driver to not be able to outrun a massive tanker.

That's the point. It's like a nightmare, the tanker was faster than a tanker should be, and pretty much just appeared wherever it wanted to. Almost supernatural. That's why it's a scary film.

I've added a poll, together with a few other choices.

I can't decide whether to go for Jaws, Schindler's List or Saving Private Ryan, all three are superb films in my book.

Thanks Kev. Can't see many votes coming the way of A.I. tho :D

Not getting as many voters as I'd hoped - maybe the choice is too hard :)

Duel. The tension and emotion he created with little or no cinematic elements was what makes him a genius. I mean, sharks are scary anyway, but oil tankers?

i liked AI. and im not a fan of Spielberg, so unless Catch me if you can gets added, i'll be voting AI

It's between Saving Private Ryan and Empire of the Sun. I had to for Empire of the Sun in the end. I only recently realised Ben Stiller was in it.

Ben Stiller was one of Malkovich's gang I believe. Did you recognise that the kid was Christian Bale?

Another War of the Worlds fan boy here! I think its a masterpeice, watched it last night for about the 5th time lol!

I've added Catch Me If You Can and I really can't believe any human being on this planet could possibly think AI is Spielberg's best film, but each to their own.

i'm not a fan of his. and i enjoyed AI so :p

Schindler's List for me, such an amazingly well made piece of film, really, really moved me, and though it's one, small view of WWII, it's one of the most shocking and enjoyable films I've ever seen.

Saving Private Ryan is reasonably close, but Band of Brothers, though was only exec producer, would be up at the top if it was a film :)

I so agree with this. My little brother is a bit of a WWII nut and went on for ages about Saving Private Ryan and especially THAT opening scene on the beach. When Band Of Brothers came out, Saving Private Ryan went out of the window as far as he was concerned. Band Of Brothers was his new fascination. Having gotten the series on DVD and watched it several times as well as having seen Saving Private Ryan I can say my brother has it right. But since Spielberg didn't direct this it obviously won't appear in this poll, but if it did I'd be begging the mods to move my vote for Saving Private Ryan to Band Of Brothers.
