Many years ago I used to play CS a lot and I found myself using the arrow keys for movement and the six keys above it for grenades, dropping weapon etc lol. It was just comfortable. Sometime later I found out almost everyone uses wasd keys, so I tried it, briefly, and went right back to arrows! I remember my clan mates taking the **** out of my setup when they found out, hehe. Today, I can play wasd with ease, but sometimes I still catch myself going for the arrow keys when playing the odd game of CS. Mouse, I've always used normal, no invert etc. I would use the extra mouse buttons for jump and last weapon though

Now that I think about it, the arrow key thing must have started when I was a kid "playing" Doom 2. I say playing but I was mostly just scared as hell, creeping around with the music OFF. Cyberdemon's still give me the chills :D

Good times...

WASD + Normal. I use tons of other binds in most games though, so it suits for that. Easy access to Q, E, Z, X, C, V, B, F, G, H, T, Y, Space, 1 through 6, alt+1-4, shift+1-4, tilde, alt+tilde, alt+q, alt+e, F1, F2, it's enough for most games & can do it comfortably :p

I used to use arrow keys for gaming when I first started, mainly in FPS games like UT, CS, etc.

But I forced myself to use WASD when I playing WoW (hardcore raider) as I needed the extra keys around the movement keys to bind to various abilities/macros to increase my reaction speed in-game.

I know it sounds funny, trying to increase reaction speed in an MMO rather than an FPS, but regardless I'm glad I made the move - no more shifting my keyboard to the left to game.

I always used inverted with a flightsim. It feels natural to me every time, but that's with a joystick where the physical action of pushing the stick back seems to translate better to the vehicle moving up.

My brain can't deal with that in a standard FPS though. Non-inverted every time for me there.

I was a hardcore arrow key aimer/mover and didn't use mouselook till sometime during Quake 2 when it just clicked that it was easier. I still used arrow keys for movement till Morrowind I think, when a lot of the other keys were sat around WASD so I finally learned to use them.

My experience is near enough a carbon copy of this.

Until this year I used arrow keys but now use WASD. Never used inverted mouse, I'm not a freak :p

I used to use arrow keys and normal mouse until Alien vs Predator (1999) came out and defaulted to WASD and normal mouse, I switched to that, as you needed a lot of buttons (at the time) to hand.

For FPS I use a bit of a weird setup (the numpad with little finger on the arrow keys), but it is awesome for me and I get good MW2 scores so it can't be that bad.

I can't use the WASD keys for FPS games now :(

I used to use arrow keys, then I bought a gaming key board.

I can't stand WASD because the W is not directly above the ASD keys so I find the angle uncomfortable. Wish I could as then I could have a normal keyboard, I don't like the numpad configuration on this Merc Stealth keyboard.

Always used normal mouse.

I use E-S-D-F and always inverted mouse. Find ESDF better because you have more key options available on your left hand side and the "F" key also has a little raised section on it to put you in the right spot.

How people play FPS without inverted mouse amazes me, if i forget when setting up a new game or jump on another lads PC at a Lan for instance i instantly feel like i'm trying to play after downing 10 pints :( find my head physicaly lifting up and trying to stop myself looking at the floor, makes me big time ill :)

When I first started playing CS 1.3 all those years ago I actually used the arrow keys + mouse and mapped everything else around them.

It wasn't until I started playing BF1942 + Desert Combat mod that I actually used both at the same time. WASD for infantry on the ground and arrow keys for vehicles (and inverted mouse when flying).

Over time I just gradually moved completely over to WASD for all games, even CS now. I do change a few things around but WASD is still to move about :)
