Still on contract with my Desire until may next year, I had a choice of buying a new phone now and selling my desire on buying a tablet and upgrading the phone next year. I'm happy with the Desire so went for some dual core goodness on the Tablet. Will wait for the quad cores phones next year.

I'll be staying iPhone for the moment. The main things I like about it over Android/WinMo can't be solved with a dual core processor.

Can't say dual core interests me one little bit.
There nothing I do with my handset that needs that much power so it looks like I'll be keeping my current handset until it dies.

The only dual core handset I would consider is the Atrix but not because its dual core, I'd have a look because of its effin huge battery which would hopefully give it some lasting power.

I'm only 6 months or so into my galaxy s contract, I won't be upgrading any time soon :p

Don't feel too bad about it you'll be in a great position to hit the quad core market, and I reckon by then more software will be optimised for mutliple cores. Don't really think the Galaxy S will be found wanting too badly

Apart from the epeen factor I really don't see the point of changing from the Nexus S at present. I'll take another look at the market in six months time.

I'm fairly sure we won't see quad core cpu's in phones for atleast 24 months. It'll be reserved for tablets.

And I'll be moving from a desire to SGS2. For me it will be a big improvement.

I think dual-core is much more important than quad-core though, it actually serves a good purpose in ironing out any current problems with Android.

The current single core phones can often be found wanting when you start throwing big video files at them and doing things with Flash in the browser.

Looking like the SGS2 for me at the moment, though will be holding off buying one until I have at least had a chance to look at and compare it to the Sensation :)

This may just be the geek in me, but i honestly cant see why people are so fond of the Galaxy S 2...?

The Sensation seems the better buy as its almost guaranteed to have a better mod community, and the 256mb less memory i cant see making much difference with Samsung's bloaty TouchWiz on top...not to mention the previous Galaxy phone was imo really cheap and nasty looking and awful to hold.

Each to their own i suppose though. :)

Well, several points -

  • HTC are locking down bootloaders and that will make it a pain in the arse for modders, they'll get around it but it may restrict what they can do. The SGS has an excellent mod community too, that will no doubt carry over

  • TouchWiz, while not generally as good as Sense, is still decent and isn't bloaty, especially with a 1.2Ghz dual-core running it

  • The camera and video recording is almost certainly going to be better on the SGS2

  • The screen, while slightly lower resolution is hugely superior technology

  • The SGS2 has a bigger battery and the screen draws less power

  • You get 16GB of onboard storage compared to 1GB on the Sensation

  • The build quality with Samsung is generally fine, yes its plastic in order to make it very light, but it will be solid and comfortable to hold as they've changed the texture of the back from the original SGS.
HTC are no angels when it comes to build quality really, have you used a Desire HD? The bottom part of it is just awful :p

Have I missed anything?

Ip5 but only if genres a massive iOS overhaul, which needs dual core. Otherwise stick with ip4, or a if the ip5 had larger screen but I can't see that happening.

People saying iPhone 5 when no one knows what it looks like or what it has in it just goes to show the amount sheeple Apple now control. I bet if you put a poll up asking what you'll have in 10 years there'd say iPhone 15.
