5820k, will probably go AMD, depends on benchmarks/reviews. Won't pre-order, in no rush, if it's good and gets priced gouged by retailers, I'll just wait for the normal prices to come back.

I will be upgrading my old 5820k, but to what i am not sure yet.
The 12core parts price has disappointed me a bit as its a little more than i would want to pay but then again if it does come out with the rumoured speeds when overclocked then.. i could live with it.
Dont really want to go to 8 cores, doesnt seem like a major jump even with Zen2s great single core improvements, still will wait for benches - never know what might turn up.

Yesh, but all core over clocks could be interesting - i still think the 8s will reach 4.6 or 4.7 all core and the 12... maybe the same which would be a very fast cpu.
Couple that with the IPC improvements and platform improvements and its gonna be tough to beat.

I voted for number 5, so i will wait for the reviews.

If the 3800x matches or beats the stock 9900k i will jump onboard and buy that amd processor.

Possibly - if I do, would likely replace the 2700X with a 3800X, keeping the X470 Aorus Gaming 7 wifi motherboard. Will need to see some comparisons :)
What I don't get is how everyone can afford to jump up a price tier now that AMD have pushed prices up.

So many people saying they will go from a 2600/1660/1700/2700 to a £400 (more likely £450) 3800X.

Do people just shrug and think, "This is what I must pay now. This is how it is."

Well yeah, but before they do they moan about the £499 9900k...it’s whatever suits them at the time...

Complete BS. It'll be £400 at most from the cheapest source.

More likely £360-£370.

Well compatibility isn't just about power consumption.

Also that's completely misleading given it is nothing like a 2700X given the chiplet design.

It takes 30 seconds to find the AMD chipset for motherboards from the keynote stating it...

B350 X370 bespoke bios from vendors...everything else yes...so not misleading at all...

I didn't say it isn't compatible. But it has nothing to do with the fact you think it is a higher clocked 2700X (which is completely wrong).

Nope...I think you need to some research first before you post..:p

I didn’t mention clocks...I said speed bump...

$399 != £400.

I think you need to do research.

I'll point you to some examples.

RTX 2060 = $349.
RTX 2070 = $499.

What are their £ equivalents?

The 3800x will not be £360 on release.

What do you think speed bump means?

A speed of a processor is the clock rate.

Next.

Lol

No it’s not... 4ghz chip v a 4ghz chip with higher IPC means one is faster...can you guess which one?

Next....
