Well at least it'd now down on the £400-£450 estimate I was rebutting which you decided to suddenly interject yourself in.

£399 is still too high though.

How much is a 9900K btw. Suddenly a price gap is appearing.

Also you never said what your definition for a "speed bump" was.

The 3800x will be £399 maybe more and is a speed bump on a 2700x

15% clock for clock...

And just look in the ocuk shop if you don’t know how much a 9900k is :p

What I don't get is how everyone can afford to jump up a price tier now that AMD have pushed prices up.

So many people saying they will go from a 2600/1660/1700/2700 to a £400 (more likely £450) 3800X.

Do people just shrug and think, "This is what I must pay now. This is how it is."

Well yeah, but before they do they moan about the £499 9900k...it’s whatever suits them at the time...

Nah mate. I'll stick to your quote and the original point of your posts. You are only in this thread to belittle the launch with carefully phrased posts and you've been called out on it.

Funny how you let the "more likely £450" fly. Of course it fit within the narrative you wanted to paint.

You’re either very bored or very sad...well see when the chips come out...I want cheaper prices as the 8/12 Ryzen 3800x is not compelling for £399 a mere £100 saving over a 9900k...so ill probably go 3900x at £499

Belittle a cpu launch? I couldn’t give a toss...I’ll quite happily spend £500 on a 12/24 3900x over the same priced 9900k

Well feel free to show me that I am wrong on July 7th if there isn't a price less than £380 posted on Hotukdeals by then. Given you a £20 window.

And that's very generous given you think £399 is the absolute lowest it can be.

We'll adjust for today's exchange rates. $1 = £0.788.

On release...£399 after a month or so or near Christmas it will drop...

Well probably see 9900k for 449 by then not just in a Gibbo test the water 24 hour flash sale..

Intel coffeelake chips are a security risk, paying £450+ to potentially have your personal info stolen is not a bright move. AMD all the way.

Loving all the arguing about the 9900K price, it is actually pretty hilarious how useless people are at shopping or lazy. You can get a 9900K right now for £430 (€489), retail version as well not the OEM version. It was only every being gouged due to literally no stock availability, it was effectively a paper launch and the height of Intel's 14nm shortages, you've been able to get a 9900K for less than £460 since end of Feb, and a few places before that.

UK street price for the 1700X was £375 at release, and the $:£ was at a pants $1.20-1.22:£1 unless there is a stock shortage (worldwide) then the prices will follow the $:£ plus local taxes very closely from non-gouging retailers, and if everywhere has stock then non of them can really charge much more. Unless they try and convince you they need to keep items in stock or they look like a poor shop. :p

so what do you think the 3700x and 3800x and 3900x will be on release with stock a plenty?

AMD might have plenty of stock but it all depends on the marketing strategy they wish to employ. Will they use the strategy of only releasing small amount so the 'sold out everywhere' headlines drive up demand?

Give it a rest  So a PC with an AMD CPU is immune from potentially having your personal information stolen. Aye OK.

Hard to say since if I could predict forex rates that well I'd be a gazillionaire. OCUK were selling the 1800X for significantly less than $499/£499 price it was released at, and by May it was available between £419-449 from almost all of the big e-tailers. If I was a betting man I'd say that the likes of OCUK will charge $:£ for the pre-order pricing, and it might stay that way for a week of two, but if you bother to shop around then you'll be paying significantly less, again assuming there is free stock in the channel.

Will most likely be moving my 8700k based machine into living room gaming duties (it’s build) and replacing it with a 3900x or 3950x if announced.

Don’t really need to but fancy something new to mess around with. Plus I also fancy moving back to a full tower build.

The poll is pretty specific regarding upgrade from Ryzen 2 to to Ryzen 3 - what's with all the Intel talk!

I think I'll move from 2700x to the 3900x but not sure if it would be feasible to keep my x470i motherboard? I'll need to do some homework before deciding, but hopefully option 1 for me because it's the reason I switched to Ryzen in the first place - drop in CPU upgrades. :)

Think I'll swap out my son's 2600 which has been pretty damn decent so far - a great buy for price/performance, to a 3600 or maybe a 3700 (if he contributes)....want to keep the TDP lowish as he's using a B450 and the VRM's are not the greatest on his board.

The intel upgrade is part of the poll

I have refreshed the bios on my C6H in case I go Ryzen 1700 -> 2xxx or even 3xxxx.

Currently I have no need to as My GFX card is only an R470 and I do not play many games

I might like to have a newer CPU though in which case I will weigh up the 3xxx against a second hand 2xxx when all you guys upgrade.
