Hi People,

I'm looking to buy a couple of Pool cues, wanna go and hold em first before i buy it, not looking to spend more than £100

suggestions?

Yeah i'd try a sports shop first. Go outside to your local shopping centre see whats around.

I bought mine from taskers sports, not sure if thats a countrywide store.

JJB had some really nice ones in around here for ~£50. Pool or snooker?

Pool.

Me and a mate recently joined a snooker club, and we prefer pool to snooker, and the cues are pretty much screwed so we want to get our own.

Go to a sports shop, pick up cues, buy your favourite.

You should consider a cue that'll do for Snooker too, because you will get bored of Pool.

Your local snooker hall should stock a variety of good quality cues and accessories.

Ok proper n00b here.

is there a difference between pool cues and snooker cues?

Pool cues are generally bulkier with a larger tip - typically 10, 12 or 14mm

Snooker cues are lighter, and typically have an 8mm tip.

Generally if you play pool with a snooker cue the increased weight of the balls on a smaller tip will damage it in no time.

Conversely, a heavier pool cue will be no good on a snooker table as it will impede any attempt at fine control with its larger tip.

I see. Thanks visage :)

we'll most likely get Pool Cues for now, when we go to the club we always play it, plus we can never remember what colour you pot the balls in for snooker anyway :p

Only a problem if you're playing American pool/on an american pool table. :)

If you're a member of Rileys, they should have a large selection of cues for HALF your budget for decent (ish) ones.

Easy.

Pot the reds then screw back for the yellow, green, brown, blue, pink and black.

but when you pot a red aren't you supposed to pot a colour?

True. But most pool halls have american tables and balls.

If you're playing on a uk pub table then you could get away with using a snooker cue, but people who take their own cues to the pub are ponces.
