Poor eyefinity performance, crossfire 6970s

Here's hoping anyways, this problem is all over the net. I'm reading it in loads of other forums. I have a few more ideas from other post. Will let you know how I get on. These fixes are very tidious to try.

Under utilised GPU % sounds like the CPU not pushing enough at it to me... or another bottleneck such as RAM, IO or motherboard bus.

this usage per gpu thing, i wish i installed afterburner yesterday on the temp setup to check the usage. what i found with usage on the q6600 was that say on burnount for example, with one card i was getting 50-60% percent usage, now when two cards are in all it does is share the load exactly, both cards were using between 25-30% usage. say if one card using 100% two cards will be doing 50% each. if the need arises for more they can both get to 100%.

i prefer the 50/50 load sharing as it keeps temps down.

shayper what res are you running at? dont answer if you have already said as im about to read the thread again

Nah mate, it's poor drivers. Just installed Crysis and ran it Eyefinity 5760x1200. I have an SB i7 2600 @ 4.2 standard - surely it cannot be CPU for me?

Piccies below. See the maximum GPU usage indicated through G19 and on screen using RadeonPro app

Position of cards is reason for high GPU1 temps

Crysis ran through ATI Xtension 1.4. FPS around 60 with High settings and 2x AA

I'm still getting no where here at all. Tried loads of differn't things differnt drivers to installing with 1 card in then 2. What drivers exactly are you running now bad boy ? You said 10.8 then 11.2 drivers only ontop. I tired that but got an error when installing 10.8. I thought 10.8 didn't support 6900 series. You say your getting around 60fps with crysis using ATI Xtension 1.4, what is this ?

Make sure you give AMD the feedback or they will never fix these in the drivers, Sadly not enough people are running thease exspensive setup and even fewer tell AMD they are having the problem.

BFBC2 with Quadfire 5970s 4GB@ 2560X1600 (1GPU=100% 2GPU=50% 4GPU=25% give or take) @ 60fps Vsync.

Just like most programs don't max out even a single core on a CPU & even most multi threaded programs don't max out a multi cores on a CPU the same will go for most games.

Its a combination of the game itself the driver & the crossfire profile.

With Radeon-Pro i have played with CF profiles that would give me a smooth 60fps 20%-across 4 GPUs & then 80%-across 4 GPUs with a different profile but the frame rate was terrible in the 30-40 fps & i was able to do that with many games, so high GPU usage is not an absolute indication of performing to its intended ability.

Most people regard 10.5 as a good all over driver which it is but BFBC2 used 50% across 4 GPUs those drivers, it was good but was not as smooth as the 25% across 4 GPUs with 11.2 drivers & the same for many other games.

None of that changes the fact that there are still performance issues that effect some people more than others.

I uninstalled drivers 11.2 then installed the 11.2 display driver and installed 10.8 CCC but I cant' access CCC now. it doesn't show. Any updates with you bad boy ?

Right folks, I have a solution.

1. Uninstall everything. Custom uninstall. Reboot into safe mode (type msconfig in run, choose Safe from second tab) and use driversweeper in safe mode (guru3d has download)
http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/
Then msconfig back to Normal startup.

2. Install 10.8 all parts - you only need access to old CCC
http://www.guru3d.com/news/ati-catalyst-10-8-drivers-out-for-grabs
Reboot

3. Install 11.2 drivers only - choose custom and only tick drivers
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Videocards---ATI-Catalyst-Vista---Win-7_c31.html
Reboot
3a. Create eyefinity group

4. Download RadeonPro. Create game profile
http://www.radeonpro.info/en-US/

5. Select "Mass Effect" under CrossfireX Tweaks
5a. Disable Aero. Force Process High Priority. Enable Triple Buffering (although it may not help)
5b. Launch game through RadeonPro

6. Enjoy

7. Let me know how it goes

I am still hitting only 60% GPU for games such as BC2, Bulletstorm but for Crysis, getting 99%!

A workaround that I will expect AMD to fix pretty soon in drivers 11.3+

I've just flashed both cards to 6970 saphire bios in a last ditch attempt. I was pretty much about to give up and just play on one monitor. Thanks so much for your effort Bad Boy :)

If you’re running Windows 7 and using Driver Sweeper of Guru 3D it’s no wonder you’re getting driver issues. The version of DS on that site is out of date and when using it with W7 it deletes crucial dll files that both AMD and Nvidia cards require in order to function correctly.

No luck at all with me, I have followed your instructions exactly. When I install 10.8 and it reboots I don't even get the option for CCC. I'm at a complete loss. I think ATI need to address the issue.

I can run with eyefinity enabled on 1 card at v decent frames. It's when 2 cards are enabled there is a problem and fps are actully lower. I will show some examples shortly, i'm doing some Acronis back ups right now.
