sorry if i posted this in the wrong place new to forums but wanted to seek the help from the community.

I enjoy gaming on pc on my old system but felt i needed a tune up as i will be unable to run upcoming games.I got a new gpu upgraded from 650ti 2gb to a palit 1070 games are running better but not as much as i feel they should be and im only trying to play in 1080p is this just me expecting to much from my system or are my other components not up to scratch

my PC
intel i5 4440
palit 1070 8gb
16gb ram
700w psu

thank you to anyone that replies in advance

There's nothing wrong with any of that. A GTX 1070 should max out a 1080p monitor. Is the fan on the GPU working?

i thought it should to but the fans seem to be running fine infact the card doesn't even seem to get pushed past 50% usage thought it might of been the cpu?

gta5 nearly max few things off or lowered. frames normally around highs of 60 lows of 30ish may dip below 30 now and then but its not consistant at all the fps are all over the place constantly up and down

arma 3 run it on standard like 30 frames but again drops to 15 somtimes thats on campaign not multiplayer

fallout 4 mostly 60 but different areas of the map get drops to 30ish ultra settings

ryse ulta mostly 60 but drops to 25-30 every so often

rainbow 6 seige ultra 50-100fps

You sure Vsync is turned off? Because it's strange how your highs in several games are around 60.

Quite demanding modern games on a mediocre cpu, despite the uber 1070. IIRC the i5 4440 has 4-cores but no hyperthreading.
When your fps drops can you see what the cpu usage and temps are at that time?

I can tell you that Arma 3 is 90% cpu however i think in this case to see clear cut if the pc is performing as it should be a synthetic benchmark and comparison to a similarly specked system may be in order as it will give you a clearer result.

That said as above your cpu isn't the fastest may be the next thing to consider upgrading :).

A synthetic benchmark will be a damn site more consistent than any game... a reason a lot of people don't use them is because they are considered to be to well optimized thus not representing entirely real world statistics however it will show you that for instance your cpu and gpu are not lagging behind other matched systems.

Using something like 3D Mark firestrike or the likes would be a great option as they have certain tools to " view similar systems " where you can compare results with others who have as closely matched hardware as yourself :)

My system scored 14918 on Fire Strike, which is better than 90% of all results. I have a Palit GTX 1070, but a different CPU.

ahh might take my gpu to my mates house test it in his rig hes got a 6700K see how it goes but thanks to everyone for the help means a lot

The i7 6700K will handle a GTX 1070 much better than a locked i5. There are quite a few videos on youtube that show bottlenecking with an i5 and GTX 1070 at 1080p in certain games.
