Popups

I was just watching last episodes room 101 and Germain Greer (something like that) was talking about how she wanted pop ups put in there because she apparently always got them when working on the computer. Yes, they are annoying, but what I'd like I know is when you guys last got one from a non dodgy site?

I don't think I've ever got one from any of the sites i visit, apart from the dirtier ones (if you know what I mean

) I'm not countin the ones asking you to do a survey though

Between noscript and adblocker plus I ain't seen a popup in a long time. Last time I saw one it was just a blank box that was in the background after closing firefox.

I use opera with an adblocklist... I haven't seen an Ad or popup in over three years.

Every few days, but there's none on my regular sites so its not a big deal.

Modern browsers block them these days.

Modal windows is what the cool kids use now.

Never and you don't need ad-blocks.
Sites don't use opus anymore, as most browser block them anyway.

And from may, websites won't be allowed to store cookies without our permission.

i saw that, i think if shes getting them 'while working' maybe on MS Word or something then it sounds like the old 'microsoft popup' thats related to the 'Messager' service that is in the admin tools/services section, USED TO HATE THOSE! that was a good day when I found out they could be disabled

I just use Admuncher, it blocks all popups, or other ads etc and is not browser specific, it runs in the background as a seperate program and blocks all ad server requests.

Even cuts the ad breaks out of ITV Player (naughty!)

No one will comply with that, it's ridiculous.

Can't remember the last time I seen a pop up ad, it's all about hover ads these days.

Of course they will especially The big sites with millions of users. Tiny sites are a different matter. But do you think the big sites will want fines etc.

I don't get any, is it morally wrong to use ad block plus? I use it and I somehow guilty on websites that I love so much.
