Porsche Macan

I would think that this could quite easily holds its own against a poxy Golf GTI, even on a track. Where it would suck however, is off road.

Quite a good review on PH about this, and I really rather like it.

Unless you need off road capability, (or maybe towing) there isn't an SUV out there that hasn't got a better option in a different "segment".
There is no better option in the Porsche range, or other premium manufacturer, for a car with seating for 4 adults for the price of a Macan.

Other four door/seat variants from Maserati, Bentley, Porsche, Ferrari etc all cost at least x2.

What is actually wrong with buying a car due to style and fashion? Loads of purchases are governed this way, cars need not be any different.
Yes, as soon as you move from the mundane, need to have options, then the deciding purchase factor is always style details, fashion and desirability.

Range Rover Sport isnt that far off and that will seat 5. It starts at 51k for the same sort of 3.0 TDV6 yo get in the £43.3k Macan Diesel S. Although strictly speaking Cayennes is the RRS competitor.

Not sure how the specs compare between the cars though, RR config is down, bi Xenon is £1060 on the Macan.

It does sit between the Evoque and RR Sport which makes doing direct comparisons difficult. When is that new Jag 'X50' thing due to come out?

The low end diesel RRS's are slow and the petrol models cost upwards of £75k+
The Evoque is cheaper but slow and quite snug inside.

Like everything else Porsche does, it will out drive all other cars in its class I expect. People I am aware of who have driven one say it is really rather good and as people seem to want these things then a rather good one is better than a not very good one surely?

Got an invite to my local OPC launch in a few weeks time, will be going along just to check it out. Undecided on it personally as SUV's don't massively interest me but money no object I'm sure I'd take one over most other SUV's.

Porsche is coil sprung, no leather or nav as entry it seems! Ouch. Still all allocations gone anyway.

CX-17? I couldn't possibly comment.
