hi guys,

could anyone recommend a decent portable external (2.5") drive that works reliably through the usb power source? i was looking a WD Passports but apparently the drive requires more juice than the average usb port supplies causing failures...

i really like the simplicity of not needing a power cable so it'd be great if you could recommend :)

my father in law has a sweet philips portable drive (the usb cable wraps around the ridge and is very neat and compact, but that seldom works without the AC power :(

Just grab a Seagate 7.2k 2.5" and then get a cheap case from ebay (the sony vaio one works well) Most decent 2.5" (vaio included) come with double USB connectors so that 2x 500mA can be supplied if needed.
