Portal RTX rec-specs released, coming 8th December.

Easter egg cube is rather nice to play with. Looks utterly amazing, got it tweaked to sit comfortably at 60fps with some settings turned down but still playing with it. Spending more time staring into this cube.

RTSS overlays don't work, Nvidia GFE doesn't show fps figures, only the Steam built in fps counter seems to work lol.

21:9 ultrawide works perfectly fine, ignore the 16:10 and 16:9 values in the game's settings, the game displays on ultrawide exactly as all the other Source games do.

I had to enable Ultra Performance DLSS mode in order to get 60-100fps, otherwise even on Performance mode it's around 45-55fps. I did enable 8 bounce lights though in the ALT+X menu, the default is 4.

Looks wicked and really, Ultra Performance looks just fine with an output res of 3440x1440 and all settings maxed.

Had a quick play and it looks awesome, and the nostalgia :D
But, is there any way to play using a controller?
I'm sure it's a bannable offence not to use kb and m, but I just don't.

Looks glorious. DLSS3 required though, even on my 3090 Ti. Performance gets around 50-70 fps so far and doesnt look much different to no DLSS

Do AMD users have an similar option for RTX with DLSS, failing that they be stuck at about 10 fps on a top tier GPU

AMD has FSR2, it's as good as DLSS2, but an nvidia sponsored game like this is not going to add FSR, just like how an AMD game like Callisto won't add DLSS.

Fsr is in loads of Nvidia sponsored games e.g. DL 2, cp 2077, chernobytlie, F1 22 etc. Only amd sponsored games block dlss :p

But in the case of this, 99% likely Nvidia is blocking fsr for this one.

There is the taau upscaler for amd to use but even then, it doesn't help performance.

Ultra perf DLSS needed to get close to 60 fps at 4K output on my 3080. Image doesn't look great - some of it is nice like reflections but the presentation is too soft from this base resolution and has some ghosting and shimmering.

Dropping to perf DLSS and its already hitting 30 fps, hard pass :p

Holy hell, 3080ti/5900x and I'm getting 21fps with everything cranked. Looks amazing standing still though!
What settings and resolution?
Seems ok for me at 3440 x 1440 with DLSS3 set to performance.

General question - Are the standard video settings such as shadows and aa / af ignored? When i change them and apply they revert previous setting or do not apply and dont make a difference to fps

Yeah doesn't seem to apply since the whole thing is running through the nvidia remaster backend so I guess it ignores those settings apart from the basics like resolution, vsync etc.

Stuck everything on Ultra/Quality(if I tried to to turn DLSS off entirely I just get booted right out) right out of the gate and it's a pretty slideshow. Been tweaking it and getting pretty close to a solid 4k/60 with some changes to DLSS and general texture quality.

ultra performance DLSS or performance?

Im on a 3090 Ti / 5800X3D and running 3440x1440 performance with 8 max light bounces it will sometimes dip into 30s.

More questions, is there no 'run' button in portal? I'm sure it just used to be left shift to run. Walking everywhere take time
Multicore rendering in options has a * next to enabled, but when I set enabled I get graphics glitches which look like heavy load / high temps on GPU memory. Disabling it though is fine so looks like that option is just broken. Does anyone else have issues with multicore rendering enabled in options? Its in main options, not Nvidia remaster options

3440x1440 with dlss performance and the max/ultra preset (not upped anything from the default preset) runs about 50-55fps with dips into 40s every now and then. For this style of game and with gsync on oled, very playable compared to other games. Tbh it's not bad performance given its fully path traced.

Yeah, very playable at those settings. Had a brief go, will play some more tomorrow. I probably get around 60fps ;)

First time i have ever played this , quite an enjoyable game now i worked out the the hell to do... currently on mission 10 :D

Performance wise on a 4090 FE i am getting :

FI = frame insertion

1440p native : 63fps
1440p Dlss 3 no FI : 142fps
1440p Dlss 3 FI : 205fps

4K Native : 28 fps
4K Dlss no FI : 90fps
4K Dlss FI : 130fps

First time i have used DLSS 3 and find it actually works very well and in this single player games felt perfect to me and can certainly notice how smoother it looks and doesn't feel sluggish on the mouse either :)

How are you guys adjusting DLSS? I'm not seeing any option in the settings and I'm struggling to get 30fps with a 3090FE @ 3840x1600

edit: found it Alt + X enabling performance gets me 30-50fps. Woo. Its not a massive improvement over vanilla its ok, better, but not a huge improvement. Not overly impressed.
