I'd really like one. Are there any UK places for them........

I don't (nor do I intend to)have a credit card thats why i'm asking...

or

Could a kind forum member order me the gubbins and I pay them through Paypal/NOCHEX or w/e

or

could someone with a PC come over so I can 'view' its capabilities (free polish for a glass of squash tbh!)

Thanks for any info

How daft, you really shoot yourself in the foot there. They are very useful for buying stuff online, as you are now finding. Simply setup a direct debit for the full amount every month, dont spend more than you have, and sorted.

The only reasons not to get one:

a) You have poor credit
c) You have the financial management capabilities of Jade Goody

Which is you? ;)

There is a good forum in the UK for detailing, pc use etc but I cannot remember the url? Anyone? Long shot I know :p

Anybody have any before and after pics with this product?

I posted some results a few weeks back in another thread (reposted below)...if anybody wants a try with a PC before committing to buy, I'm in North Wales, drop me a line and pop round.

My brothers mate asked me for a quick detail on his Ibiza. Menzerna IP with the PC did not quite cut it, so compounded with Optimum first, then IP, then Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish. No wax in any of the pics as he said he had his own to apply and it started to get a bit late anyway.

Before the first pass:

Door and bonnet looking a bit worse for wear...

The PC is pretty easy to use once your in the groove, but it's not a magic cure. You have to pick your pad and polish compounds, ensure you get a decent micron reading with a paint thickness gauge (or kiss your clearcoat goodbye if you heavy compound with cutting pads if its a Honda), evaluate the hardness of the paint etc.

Neither, Just never needed one and still don't. TBH, I don't trust myslef with them although I know they work for a lot of people. I've never had trouble before as most places abroad now accept some form of Paypal or similar.

Stunning pics of the Ibiza btw! Can't wait to crack on with the ZT. Would you recommend masking off the hard rubber / rubber areas then?

See this is the thing that confuses me, my paint looks like your brothers mates Ibiza, its full of swirl marks but non are too deep just enough to cause problems on sunny days, i'm going to buy a PC soon as but i have no idea which pads or compounds to use, how do i decide which will give the best finish and not damage my clear coat?

It doesnt matter AFAIK. As long as you do it in stages from most abrasive to least abrasive. Its probably really only your lacquer thats got the swirls and scratches in it anyway not the paint. You'll never need to cut that far back!

You'd have to be doing something pretty silly with the Porter Cable to damage your clear coat. It's a random orbital polisher rather than a rotary so it won't burn the paint and it will only remove a few microns of clear coat if you use the correct pads/products. Don't go using T-Cut or anything really abrasive like that, stick to Poorboys SSR stuff as it breaks down as it gets hot so it's mildly abrasive to start with then it breaks to to a very very mild abrasive as it gets warm.

Fett, you may be my saviour! I have been searching high and low for someone near me with a PC! I live in chester but work in St Asaph and my car is in desperate need of de-swirling and it looks like the only tool for the job, is a pc. Would you mind me coming round some time and giving my car a going over? I ll pay for all the materials and sort you out a beer or two :) Let me know via email if you could dude, would be much appreciated.

PS, autopia are the best from the US for the PC going by detailing world, you really need a credit card ;)

Cheers for the info, should some SSR1 do the job? Don't want to go to abrasive since my scratches swirls can only be seen at the right angle.

Just about to order a 7424 with some Sonos DAS pads, apart from a 240 / 110 voltage converter anything else i need?

Got some Meguiars stage 1 to get the paint nice and smooth can this be put on with the PC?

Then get rid of the swirls using the SSR / perhaps polish using my Autoglym super resin afterwards since its a very fine cut then wax using my NXT Tech, worth sealing using autoglym extra gloss protection?
