Portsmouth Administrators set to close down and liquidate club

I lived in Soton for 6 years I'm afraid, the rivalry sort of infected me :p

doesn't matter, I lived in Portsmouth for most of my life but I wouldn't want to see Southampton go out of business. I would rather have a rivalry than no rivalry.

Hence the reason there was a wip around for SFC when they were facing a similar situation, sadly as it seems with most Soton fans, the same can not be said.

All league results against Pompey would be nullified, so points gained would be removed, sure I remember reading that was the rules last year

EDIT : ah yeah...here we go, from last year .. "The FA acts like the team didn't compete in any matches and the season only had fewer teams to begin with. All points and goals scored would be removed from other teams statistics, benefitting those clubs who lost against them."

iirc cards would still count

Surely the players could bang some money in? just to keep the club afloat?

If gaydamac wants a big cut of his payment, then i would imagine he's not happy with excepting the administrators 20p in every £.
I'm not 100% on how much hes owed, but I dont think its more an a 30 mill, which to him isn't probably much, so I feel its quite spiteful to not sign the contract.
The players would have to stump up 100s of K each, ( i think he wants 10% upfront) 3mill.
You recon they're going to do that, I doubt it.

They owe 120 odd million quid don't they? Think even the players would struggle to make much of a dent in that!
Like i just speculated, its only Gaydamac that wont complete the deal and let us get out of admin, so we can start trading again.
He has dumped a nail in the coffin, probably (mostly hearsay, because he owns large parts of the land around PFC and probably wants to buy it from the liquidators)
His portion of the bill is minor compared to the 120mil.

I can assure you they do, my facebook feed is full of gleeful status updates regards this :p

Maybe I gave them to much credit, I should have put most saints fans don't want to see that, just the ****'s, which having lived here for 6 years is sadly, a growing proportion. The new fans they are generating don't understand the rivalry they just think its a reason to be a ****.

In any case, this isn't a pfc-sfc bashing thread, so lets keep it out.

Me and my best mate are both saints fans (I fly back from Belfast a few times a year to get to games and he goes from MK to as many away and home games as he can, usually all of them) and we both came to the same conclusion. Mainly as next season we'd both be in the same league (either pompy relegated or saints promoted) and as the fifa commentators always mention, rivalry's bring something special to football...

Only thing I do sympathise with is the tax mans position on teams with such momumental over spending, to have that many owners and get that far into debt is just not fair or right really...

If it does go to liquidation I hope the club can be reformed and an AFC Wimbledon style resurgance (with more support) brings you back up soon enough
