So is it the new craze like Yo-Yos ?

Or by middle class students that did a gap year in the far east?

Sorry I dont understand why middle class white people are spinning ropes on fire in British parks?

I don't know. Maybe but I'm not down with the kids, so to speak.

I didn't do a gap year in the far east.

It's fun and they enjoy it.

No offence intended but it doesn't APPEAR to require much skill

... I'd think WTF and just carry on

I like the thinking in the second part. The first part however...
Try and turn your foot in a anti-clockwise direction whilst drawing the number six going from inside to out :)

Its like that but for the arms/wrists. Good mental and physical exercise

That's a piece of cake to be honest.

I don't have anything against "the art of poi" itself, but the people who generally do poi are w*******, mostly middle class white boy stoner types, which makes me very angry.

yeah, I agree (with the second part, anyway - i don't think "poi" is art)

Gotta go with poser I'm afraid. If you want to get good at it, do it in your back garden or something. rich-daddied students used to do it in hide park in leeds towards the end of every summer term. it's like they all sit around and seem to be saying "look at my pointless skil and socially approved group of toff mates".

or something.

I turned up and sat down with a complete group of randoms who like in hyde park/hyde park squats and they didnt even know I did poi, staff or whatever. It may be a pointless skill, but there are other things that are more pointless that go on in the park, like flying kites and doing jumps on a bmx.

edit - oh and most wernt students

a fair bit of time has passed now and im going to be performing in front of about 70 people tomorrow for my uncles 60th. I thought it may look a bit poser-e but then I though that my cousin is singing aswell and surely people who sing and have a good voice sing becasue they are telented at something.

Is singing posing?

God I hate it, what a pointless waste of time! Most of the people who do it look like they havent washed for a week. :p

I put on a show and everyone seemed to like it. Not that many people there but the ones that were enjoyed it and a couple even had a go. Granted we were all pretty smashed but it was a laugh anyway!

Never seen it before. If I did see it then I'd hate it with a passion, it looks so gay. If someone was doing it, I'd say poser :)

I suppose if you done it in Glasgow, you'd probably get stabbed 6 times anyway, maybe even shot.
