Have come across a 55 plate 530i as follows:

1. Automatic
2. Media Pack which includes professional navigation, bluetooth and CD changer
3. Visibility pack which includes Xenons which move around as you steer.
4. Logic 7 Hifi which is superb
5. 19" M Sport alloys (style 172M) - tyres are newish
6. Privacy / sun protection glass

Has full service history and in good clean condition throughout. MOT until November 2010.

One owner from new with 18k miles. It seems to me like a good deal?
 
Yeh indeed, my friend has come across it and thinks its good because it has low miles but I try to explain the obvious to him. I said I would put it up on here impartially and show him what people say. And since the BMW encyclopaedia has spoken hopefully he understands.
 
I would not buy a pre LCI E60 for anything more than £12k. There are examples for more than this, and indeed technically they are 'worth' more than this (You would infact struggle to get a good M Sport pre facelift for under £12k) but I just think its too much money to pay for the prefacelift version of a car that isn't made anymore.

Once the F10 becomes properly established, there is only one place the prefacelift E60 is going value wise - straight down.

To give you an example, when I bought my 530i Sport it was actually younger than the car you've posted yet £10,000 cheaper. I appreciate the mileage on mine was 100k higher but... it was £10,000 cheaper! 4 years later even one with 30k miles is worth 20p (Mine is worth 15p).

Fox yours is worth far from 15p, it's quite deceiving for you to make out your car is worthless these days :p
 
I saw one with similar miles advertised at £3k the other day, they are worthless now :p

Even sub 100k ones struggle to break through £5k now, unless its a diesel.
 
3-5 k is what a lot of people are posting as their budget lately, it's far from worthless lol.
My 3 on the other hand !
 
My advice should basically be, go high miles one owner youngish or go facelift (LCI) or just wait for the prices to drop.
 
Yes. I think 'just wait' is the best advice at the moment.

Buy cheap old-gen (E46, E39) (Sub £10k) or wait for facelift recent gen stuff to depreciate a bit more (E90 LCI, E60 LCI).
 
I think all the advice has been good advice, why pay much much more for an old car just because it has sat around?

Also waiting gives him the best chance of getting a much better car for similar money, just have to make him see it.
 
I'm really warming to the LCI E60 - I think it's the car the E60 always should have been - it's amazing how subtle changes make a difference (Though apparently BMW made over 200 revisions during the facelift).

Sadly though unless you are happy to get an 'interesting' spec car (As was the one I found for my Dad) you really need £20,000 or more for a decent LCI M Sport model with a decent engine and specification. And I'm really struggling with the idea of paying such a lot of money for a previous generation car, I think it's quite a massive depreciation risk and a lot of cash to spend on something thats no longer fresh.

I still hate the way they do the climate control, mind :p

I could live with everything there except the manual bit.
 
There's a 05 reg 530i Sport advertised on Autotrader at the moment for £12k, but it's been there for ages so I imagine the dealer would be open to offers. It's got less options (but still has pro nav and full leather) and has 60k more miles on the clock, but that certainly wouldn't be worth £7k extra to me.
