Do we know yet which of the new cards will be using HBM?

If some of the 3 series are still using GDDR5 it would be nice to see them earlier as an alternative to nVidia for the low to mid end users.

Looking at it it seems there are four 2gb clusters. That makes 8gb and I remember seeing a rumour that only the 390x would be 8gb. So does that mean the 390 uses 4gb of GDDR5? or two clusters of 2gb HBM.

I wish AMD would at least give us the specs. Surely they have them all finalised by now?

Way to repost something and take it out of context. It's a developer forum, there is no indication it will launch there, it's almost certainly going to be launched before a developer forum, look back for the many reasons why that multiple people posted.

As for AMD launching around Windows 10.... silicon companies launch products when they are ready, it's that simple. Anything else makes no financial sense. it's not ready today and waiting to be launched with Windows 10, if it was ready to be released now it would be.

Bit salty today DM

Let me respond if that's aimed at me, obviously you didn't read what I wrote anyway.

They wrote post launch, so hopefully this is post launch and 3XX series is coming in June, which I commented on in the post I'm guessing you are referring to. Maybe you just chose to ignore that bit.

I know it's easy critiquing other peoples posts rather than contributing to the topic yourself, but it gets boring.

Really, the first part of your post was an August, a rolleyes and shocked smilie, then you proceeded to say "it does say post launch, but still.. "

There is no two ways to interpret that, you're linking August and disappointment and implying you assume the release would be close to it.

Otherwise, explain why a post launch technical conference talking about release technology requires a rolleyes and shocked smillie?

As for another part of your post that was nonsense, critiquing others posts is all I do... wow, I basically only get abuse for writing too long posts on the actual technology. I'm one of the few that goes into detail about the technology but you're imply I never contribute.

You on the other hand have reposted information, yet again, then added your little "oh, august, how disappointing" type post. What did you contribute. It's been a few pages since it was clearly highlighted this was a post launch technical conference so you felt the need to post something that linked the words August and 390x together?

One of us is contributing nothing to the thread and it isn't me.

What contributing to thread that I made, and have been updating with latest info throughout..

While I agree you do make long posts, often there aimed at someone that you consider misinformed or ignorant and come across as rude and condescending to them rather than genuinely helpful or contributing to the topic.

I prefer light hearted speculation and a bit of fun with posting, although it's nice to have a balance, posts with genuine hardware knowledge are good, but not if used in a sort of narcissistic supercilious way to try and make others looks silly. It's just not very nice.

Getting back to the hardware although 'is ready when it's ready', also carefully choosing a launch Window to maximise sales potential is standard practice. Not just chucking it on the shelf when it's baked.

There's going to be a lot of focus around Windows 10 and new hardware to go with it. E3 as a launch platform for 3XX would be perfect.

We're all entitled to our own opinions.

Nothing is ever launched at Hotchips - its a tech synposium where companies go into the nitty gritty about their tech to people in related engineering fields, etc. Its held at Stanford University and is sponsored by IEEE. Its not the kind of place where companies would launch graphics cards - honestly why don't the admins of these sites ever bother to check things before making sensationalist articles??

Also,is it me or have all these sites gone off what Orangey found and posted it as their own news??

Because it brings in clicks

That happens so much in this field, one site finds some obscure piece of info, the next thing we know is it is news everywhere and there is always some that will claim it as their own. Unnamed sources, bleedin hate em.

August. :rolleyes::eek:

Still hoping for something at E3 as it does say post launch, but still..

AMD is planning a presentation of Fiji GPU during Hot-Chips Symposium on August 25th.

How realistic is this latest rumour? That's too late to wait for its announcement.

its just in time for NV to announce thier new range. by that time nv can legitimately talk about Maxwell replacements, and they will. That will kill AMD sales as by this time nv making it look like new GPU's are just around the corner Is not so far fetched

AMD needs to leak some benchs/specs right about now. Unless they are going to give a mega shock to Nvidia I think it would be to their benefit to start getting the word out and get interest up before the launch.

If it's really launching June, then it'll be out of their hands soon as etailers/reviewers/warehouse employees will start seeing cards or being briefed before long.

Watch out for the Gibbo smilie thread. ;)

Some product may already be on a ship or clearing customs. IIRC in 2013 the Hawaii announcement came 2 weeks before release, we were told about the event a month or so ahead of time, Kyle @ [H] has said end of June, they may want product in-country a little early for their big E3 show too.

Only buys NV, but hates expense...

Lol, I'm not a diehard fan of either nVidia or AMD. Funnily enough, I've only ever purchased AMD for discreet graphics cards so far (though my last was a GTX670m on a laptop). Currently, I'm looking to buy the GTX 970 as it seems to be the right card for me at this time. If AMD releases their 300 range next month and they include a competitor for the GTX 970 for better price to performance, then of course I'll jump ship and buy that AMD card. Being a fan only brings pain. I learnt that from video games companies. All I'm trying to do is to get the best bang for buck, but above a certain level of bang (hence why I'm not bothering with cheaper cards). Also... almost going off topic here, but here's something that made me laugh...

I'd eat my socks if that were true XD AMD need to actually start giving legit details if they don't want to get left behind, especially if 390x releases in June.

HP outs new AMD R9 380 and two other unannounced Radeons in new systems

Rumors, leaked pics and accidental store listings of AMD’s upcoming R9 3-series card have been cropping up for months, so the company’s newest GPU hasn’t exactly been a secret. The latest “leak,” though, pretty much cements at least one aspect of it: HP says its upcoming Envy Phoenix desktops will feature none other than “AMD R9 380” graphics.

Yup: Although AMD still hasn’t publicly confirmed the existence of its GeForce “killers” HP says they will be featured on one of its new back-to-school PCs, which are due to ship in June.
