These reference coolers are becoming a joke. At this point they should forget making cards at all and just let the 3rd parties do it. Then we get the triX coolers or windforce or twinfrozer or whatever stuff that actually works.

We all wait for those cards anyway.

Well if it was just Crossfire 2x 390x then I find it hard for most decent cases to not have two 120mill housing..

Most cases have that up top still leaving enough for say H80i at the back..
Don't most people who build there own water cooling also go through this same issues mounting/space

Depends where these mounting points are, you could be looking at removing hdd cages, motherboard clearence, pipe length amongst other things.

General rule of thumb with custom water is to choose your case first and shape your build around it, not buy the parts then pick a case ;)

Unfortunately though, quite often non ref cooled cards in xfire/sli aren't great either. Particularly if the slot spacing on your board is close. You end up with the top card running much warmer than the bottom one.

Thats more of a bad motherboard choice though. 2 of these AIO liquid cards is gonna be more of a PITA to fit in the case than 2 none ref cards with something like the twin frozr cooler so long as you pick the right mobo.

I guess like i said, most of us wait for the non-ref cards anyway before making a purchase so its not too big a deal. you can pick which type you want.

Seems they need liquid to keep this beast cool.

Probably, they just don't want to flop again with the ref cooler. If the TDP is the same as the hawaii, the custom air coolers will do fine.

Also id I'd want to CF two of those, i'd buy a water cooled ref, and an air cooled custom.

Id freak out a bit at having mismatched cards haha.

The cards won't be water cooled with an AIO unit lol.

If they were it would alienate AIB partners and most people who would want to use more than one.

Next rumour please.:D

Lots of folk put a CPU aio cooler in their case. I like the idea of cards coming with factory installed liquid coolers efficiently taking the heat from a processor in the centre of the case to a rad on the side of the case with a fan pushing the air out. For maximum cooling you'll install a custom loop but these aio's are for those that haven't the confidence in a full loop and the warranty will be easier on a cooling failure in a factory installed cooler . I think they are a great idea.

I also like the idea, water cooling is a very good idea.. The H100 or H80 from Corsair sell very well and this is because there just better than air cooling..

Also look very nice!

AIOs frequently lose out to air cooling, especially the smaller ones like the h80!

I doubt having two 290's an Air cooled CPU cooler would keep the CPU cooler than the H80i that bring in cold air from outside the case.. The two 290s push hot air into the case the Air cooler would struggle..

When benching CPU coolers reviews forget about this..

Trouble is with these AIO coolers is those that have a WC setup cant use the waterblock part on its own.

I would have caved on a 295x2 if I could have bought it either bare or with a EK block.

Don't see the point of paying for a AIO that is of no use and lets be honest, crap compared to a proper WB within a WC setup.

But the air from a fan cooled CPU cooler is still dumped in the case. aio coolers take the heat out directly by using liquid to carry the heat to the rad on the side of the case. All cooling benchmarks are done with no case as different cases will have different results. Air cooled CPu coolers are massive.

It would be great if you could remove the Rad and use the pre-installed Tubing or let you remove the tubing from the top the GPU and use your own.. Am sure they could cover for this with some sort warranty sticker..

This will let people add onto there own custom loop would be an epic seller.

How many cards are sold Bare and what is the price reduction for no supplied cooling? The block choice is up to you. If it came with one it would be the wrong one for many. Aio will be crap compared to a full custom loop. But a full custom is a lot of money so I should damn well hope its better. To say aio is useless and crap is ridiculous.

Couldn't remember TBH, I've slept since then... Playing tonight ? I see that link about the new cards, that shroud looks very nice & cooler master being the pump & res is only a good thing !

you'd need to remove the tubing from both cards and use a 240mm rad x 50mm deep and then reconnect it together in ``Series`` but it would be awkward to get it in....they also do a 240 x 75mm rad

why does it need water................it's not a dual card !!!!........ it'll draw about the same as 290X ?
