Please read my post again as you seem to have misread

Don't see the point of paying for a AIO that is of no use and lets be honest, crap compared to a proper WB within a WC setup.

Aio will be crap compared to a full custom loop. But a full custom is a lot of money so I should damn well hope its better. To say aio is useless and crap is ridiculous.

I think either Pete910 hit a nerve or Woodsta888 genuinely misread the post!

Nice find.

I'm holding out for at least a 6GB GM200 / 390X before an upgrade. There's no way I'm buying another 4GB card. It just isn't enough I use lot's of vram @ 1440P. So unless they can figure some clever software / API workaround for when you run out of vram. I'll hold fire for 6GB+ cards.

same here, i'm sick of this 4GB rubbish.......i'll carry on with mine

That was in fact a very nice article, I do like the way they have stated right at the top of the article that they are only trying to debunk the fudzilla article and not the actual claim of "Is AMD’s R9 390X Limited to 4GB of Memory".

Assuming that there information is accurate and it does seem to tie in with what we know about HBM so far, we(like them) can conclude that yes to begin with there will be only 4GB 390's but 8GB or more will be possible when the next generation of HBM become available. Of course whether this will be before the 390's are retired off is unknown.

Can someone explain to me the benefits of HBM (aside from lower cost) and more specifically higher bandwidth memory? My understanding is that the only limitation of current gen RAM is capacity and not bandwidth.

For example, what benefits does 4GB HBM offer over 4GB GDDR5 at 1080p or any resolution for that matter? Bandwidth isn't the bottleneck, capacity is. What am I missing?
