Test Drive Unlimited 2 Announced!

Hey everyone

I've been hunting the net every month or so to try and find information about a sequal for Test Drive Unlimited, easily one of my favourite games on the 360. I really enjoyed all aspects of it, and have been waiting for news on a sequal. There have always been murmurs on various forums and news sites, but nothing concrete. Until now!

I happened across this forum post from Test Drive Unlimited Central. It has what would appear to be concept art and a few renders from the game in-progress, and to be honest if they are real, then I am looking forward to the new Test Drive even more!

I had a search and couldn't find a topic for this already, so I thought I'd share. I have linked it above rather than posting it all up again as I cannot take credit for posting them, just finding that post. Enjoy :)

Loved the first game, just cruising around the island. Can't wait for the second if they do make it :)

I can't wait for this either, always have a route around the net for any info when I remember too. But, this post is from last July, and I haven't seen anything any newer since:(

Nice, been busy this morning so missed it. That's such awesome news :) I really can't wait for this game now. Loved the first and I will certainly love the second if it builds on what the first had, adding more to the world :)

I'm looking forward to this too, I always liked this game as a more chilled out drive after hectic forza sessions!

However I agree with the following comment that was made on that forum

What new revenue streams?

This is probably just downloadable content but they could they make it subscription based instead

It's just been announced by Atari:

After the highly successful Test Drive Unlimited, which redefined the genre, Test Drive Ulimited 2 will be an innovation evolution in racing games, expanding its unparalleled multiplayer experience and immersing players in a world full of new online content and lifestyle customisation,

IF the online "cruise" had worked it would have been cool but it just didnt.

MP was not really practical for just pick up and racing either because unless people have invested a longtime in SP they didnt have the cars to compete and starter car races werent up to much.

Was a very good game but needs some tweaking to be great.

Wonder what the setting will be this time?

They can GTFO if it has the same pos retarded networking topology that TDU featured. It was enough to utterly destroy the multiplayer aspect of the game and clubs became redundant weeks after launch due to it.

It was a lovely game with a lovely concept, but splitting an island into subsections was as dumb as hell. Atari were full of promises with the game - where are the engine upgrade packs Atari?

Sounds great!

I absolutely love TDU and I can't wait for a sequel. The multiplayer segments didn't really bother me, I just loved the freedom the game gave you just to drive.

The only criticism I had is the handling can be a little squiffy in places.

Whooooo!!! Finally it's been announced, I played TDU far too much just cruising around so I can't wait to see more on the sequel. Bring on E3.

I can't actually see them doing that much new. Big features for them like damage etc but not so much in this day and age :p

Either way I'm happy with updated graphics, these new features, new island :D and hopefully some new cars to use on some more expanded race modes.

For what TDU promised, once you got past the OMG open world syndrome, it was a very average gaming experience and a physics system that wasn't all that great.

The only challanages I liked were the races where you had to deliver cars (although driving for 20 miles without any damage to have an AI car hit you and ruin your chance of a perfect for that event really annoyed me). I also liked the challanges where you had to race say 20 miles in a set time.
