Possible Test Drive Unlimited 2 information!

Don't get me wrong, I do like TDU2 but I think I still prefer the first.

Removing ability to add your own music is a really stupid idea, changing the handling was too as the original was a fairly good balance between arcade and sim, the new physics can be very unpredictable and fairly annoying when you start fishtailing or spin out with no real warning.

As for the licences and the storyline, it's like they took a look at NFS and GT and thought, "now what's the most annoying thing these games have and lets add them to TDU" :p

Seems to be a lot less freedom than the original, what with half a dozen people nagging you about this and that.

The guy who sells the second hand cars has rang me about 4 times in the past hour telling me to search for wrecks. LEAVE ME ALONE GODDAMNIT! :o

I've got 300,000 saved up now, though my only cars are the Brera and my Mustang starter car. Still living in the caravan too, though I did spend $9,000 on cosmetic surgery for my bitch, so you can tell where my priorities lie. :p

You can play your own music in any 360 title

In TDU1 (PC) you were able to add 4 radio stations to the game with your own music, TDU2 (PC and PS3) you can't.

PC you could still run music through WMP or similar but it's more of a hassle as music won't stop automatically when there is dialogue etc

**** seems to have hit the fan with the Xbox version, from the TDU2 twitter:

Just finished a conference call. The Xbox issue has proven to be immensely complex and we have pulled in programmers from other game teams. 28 minutes ago via TweetDeck

Edit: They have also shut the official forums and posted up a statement:

Hello Everyone,

The forums are currently disabled while we work on troubleshooting the core issues surrounding the issues impacting the online service. Here's status update on where we are at with everything:

Xbox
-Many players are stuck at the loading screen. This is a critical issue on our end and we have several engineers dedicated to getting it resolved. We've pulled in additional programmers from other teams to expedite the fix to the best of our ability.

PS3
-US players are currently unable to access the online services due to a connection issue between the TDU2 client and the TDU2 servers. The first solution candidate is scheduled to be tested within the next couple of hours. If it does not solve the problem, we are currently in talks with Sony to get a patch pushed this weekend to fix the problems.

PC
-The PC client is online and functional. However, we are experiencing intermittent outages related to online play. This is a high priority issue for us, and will be looked into in more detail once the issues surrounding the Xbox and PS3 platforms are ironed out.

We are immensely grateful to our dedicated fans that have stuck with us through the launch rush. While all our systems were thoroughly tested before release, new variables have been introduced into the situation that have made things a bit more complex than expected. Not to worry, our teams are all-hands-on-deck to get everything up and running as quickly as possible.

Sincerely,

GMDestra and the Test Drive Unlimited 2 Team

Balls. My preordered copy from Play didn't even arrive today, if I'd known that I'd have bought it in town instead. :(:(

Play have 3-5 day delivery. You'll get it next week I'd say. Go to a supermarket and get it (Asda is £38 atm) and then just return the play copy next week. Sorted :)

Next time order from shopto.net. Recorded delivery postage and good prices :)
