Possible Test Drive Unlimited 2 information!

I will read that review later, be interesting to see why it gets 4/10. I can probably guess a lot of the reasons, and to be honest it's not far off what I would give it in the current state.

Basically everything we were talking about earlier on is mentioned in the review, poor graphics, poor sound, inconsistent handling, fine details being rendered exceptionally but the basics being completely neglected etcetera. To be honest I'd probably give it 4 in it's current state as well.

I don't understand why people are saying the game has poor GFX. This is being played on old hardware and considering how big the environment is, they can't get much better.

The more I think about the more I cannot believe how inconsistent the handling is in this game, I mean you find yourself spinning out at random times when other times you do the exact same thing and you power slide round the corner.

It makes me so mad.

But it only draws a small amount on the screen at a time, it doesn't render the entire island in one go, it renders whatever the draw distance is set to. There's no excuse for the god awful texture pop in, and that still doesn't explain how woeful the sound and handling is.

It's doing my head in! I even raged quit earlier :(

You have to LOL at how the cars sound in the dealerships, I triedout the F430 Scud in the test centre and it was terrible!

You can't use size of the map as an excuse for that.

Sounds are fine to me. Doesn't look like GFX/Handling/sound is going to be looked at for a while according to the TDU2 forums, might be best to trade the game in for those that are bothered.

I'm going to trade my copy in at GAME before the 24th as I get about £30/£35 credit for it as it was on special offer when my GF bought it for me.

I hate to compare it (but this is one area that can be compared), but compare the F430 Scud in GT5/Forza 3 and you will hear a massive difference.

Traded in Red Dead & F1 2010 and picked this up for the grand total of £5. Personally I don't have an issue with the visual side of the game, its not pushing boundaries but its nowhere near terrible. The only graphical thing I don't like is the ridiculously tinted front windows that make driving in the cockpit view almost impossible.
I do want to punch whoever thought the default control layout was a good idea and then punch them again because its the ONLY option available. The number of times I have slammed the car down a gear because the button layout is retarded!:D
The handling took some getting used to but I feel fairly comfortable with it now, still unpredictable at times though. Finally onto what I quoted, the sounds are hilariously bad and brilliant at the same time. I bought a 370Z and it sounds immense! Contrast that with the Enzo I did a convoy task with which was utter balls, sounded like a tape recording that restarts each time you change gear. The 430 Scud I test drove was not much better either.

Anyway got to go, apparently the Wilder brothers are squabbling with Stuart again!

*edit* Also whats with the price? Most main game places have it for around £38 online but I went into Norwich and they are all churning it out for £43?

I have adapted to it as well, but it's the random moments when you seem to just lose all traction and spin when turning a slight corner.

The sound isn't even 5.1 which pretty much every game now is.

It ain't a horrid game.. just not quite where it should be.

Handling is fine for me, I spin out if I over rev which is fair enough but other than that I haven't had problems.
Pretty much what I do - also if you take your foot off the accelerator the car does become skittish in corners so normally I just brake in a straight line beforehand, so I can power through the corner - makes it far more predictable...

The handlings not great in the game, but so far very much reminds me of TDU1 which isnt a surprise, especially how weighty accelaerating/braking is compared to the how sensitive it is laterally - its an odd mix but you get used to it...

ps3ud0
