Does this drive also act as your windows boot drive ?

If not just install the new hard drive and have both drives on the system and just copy the files over in windows as you do with any other files and folders and after removing the old drive change the drive letter to the same as what the old drive had so any temp files or other files linked to that drive by the OS can be found by the OS.

If it has a windows install on it you can use something like "Acronis true image" which I find works great even when you are moving to a smaller or larger drive, it will later expand the drive if larger and make all the space available.

There are many programs like this, but I have used this one with 100% no problems. Other people in this thread have suggested some good free programs too. Just remember if not the boot drive with windows or any other OS on it, you don't need to go threw all this, just copy as normal in the OS to the new drive.
