Possible to tell if ram has been used?

Is it possible to tell if I have used my ram if I intend to return it to the seller?

I've been sent the wrong one, however I want to test if the rest of my system works.

Who was at fault with the wrong memory being sent, the retailer or yourself?

It's probably best if you just arrange the replacement set and return/get them to collect the old set and then test the rest of the system.

The retailer. They have been informed and I'm sure they'll sort the RAM out. I was after the Corsair Vengeance Low Profile memory, however they sent me the standard one so a simple swap. Had a problem with the motherboard also so I'm just gonna set them both off together and hopefully they'll sort things out

they wont know aslong as its not damaged ect,nothings stored on ram,it wipes itself clean soon as you power pc off

As long as you don't snap the RAM, or attack it with a scalpel, no-one will know. Just make sure it goes back in the box how you found it.
