Possible Upgrade options

A 6750 XT and Ryzen 5600 would be fine at that resolution, but personally I'd prioritise the graphics card, even if it meant not buying a new CPU. Though, if he spends a lot of time playing WoW, WoW likes the X3D CPUs a lot.
He’s playing mostly FPShooters atm mainly DayZ,I’ll check on market place now

So far pal I’m looking at the 6750 XT paired with the Ryzen 5700X3D and maybe the MSI-b550-A Motherboard ATX which is going cheap currently. It has 2 more slots for extra ram, he has 2x8gb spare….I hoping this would be a noticeable upgrade for him? ….cheers

I wouldn't bother. You would get a lot more performance from e.g. swapping the 6750 XT with a 7800 XT, than putting another ~£100 into the motherboard and you might need that money to replace your PSU if it doesn't like your upgrades.

Ok pal, I’ll go with that… would my old Corsair HX1000W psu(over 10 years) still be ok?. Thank you for the help

No, no, no, the whole point of getting the am4 5700x3d, is that your son already has an AM4 motherboard, literally all you have to do is update the BIOS to the most recent, so it can definately take the 5700x3d, and just drop the cpu in there, job done! this is why everyone is suggesting it
Don't worry about ram mate, the 32GB he has is fine for the games that he playes, I only had 16GB, and made it to the top slot in PUBG (survivor, )season 5, if you ever find that you need more ram, because of modding a game or what not, just buy a 64GB kit then, x2 32 GB ddr4 matched kit, save the money you would have spent on the new motherboard, and put that towards more ram later or a better gpu the now

you really have to stop mentioning competitors , and their prices, before the Mods decide to get mean with you
