Possibly time for a new car

Does the high mileage affect much? I'm looking at spending around £5/5.5k which seems to get me 85k climate control, eleccy everything and i've spotted one with full beige leather but its light green!

They're pretty solid cars, cam belt is every 70k (recommended) so make sure it's had it done, as when they were released, Audi's stated interval was ~85k I believe.

Shocks will either have recently been replaced or will need doing, they knock over bumps when they need doing. Definitely try and get one with leather, climate control, upgraded factory fit hifi etc...

True, but the difference is negligible at specialists. It'll be offset against the cheaper insurance, anyway.

edit: As a marker, a 'major' service (all renewables minus cambelt, basically) on my A3 can be done at a local specialist for ~£250.

My A4 is going to be £230 for a service next week. I'm not comparing it to main dealer service, I'm doing it generally. A Vauxhall can be serviced for around £130 so you're paying £100 more for a VAG unit.

It's a price worth paying not to be driving around in a Vauxhall :p

Noozer which specialist do you use? I take it you from around Watford/Herts from a previous post. Sorry If I'm wrong.
Follett motors nr. London Colney. Just off the A414.

I tend to use mine mostly for motorway use. My average for the last ~2000miles (mostly NSL but with the odd back-road hoon) is 37 I think. Cruising at 80 works out at about that, if you stick to 70 it'll be nearer 40.

I did manage 45MPG on a run down to Brighton once though.

Work on 35, you'll be nicely surprised if you get 40 then :).
