Once it's passed 500 posts or so (in more than 6 months) I don't really look. It's just a way to see if someones new or not, or if someone is likely just a spammer.
I'm option 4 according to the poll, I do sometimes look at post counts but it doesn't affect the way I perceive people or at least it doesn't change how I would react to them. I do sometimes look to see if there is any correllation between the number of posts that someone has and the things they post but so far I've not found anything to suggest there is which makes me think it's an utterly worthless point to base a view on.
I don't think removing the post count serves any useful purpose though.
I look at them, but mainly because I'm generally quite impressed if someone makes it to 10k or 15k without having been permabanned! I must be due any day...
Keep them IMO. The people who don't like them don't have to look at them . I just find it interesting seeing how many times I've posted over the years. Its not like i spam or anything, only got 4.1 posts a day.
The only interest I have in post count is when I'm using MM.
I tend to only buy expensive things from people with over a 2-3k of posts. In my mind it's a sort of insurance policy that they are unlikely to be scammers or con artists.
EDIT: one of OCUK competitors has an MM but as far as I can tell they have no access requirements and anyone can post in it :/
