Which version of the third book is generally believed to be the better?

I read the first two years ago, but was put off reading the third by the confusion of there being two versions each by a different author.

I thought last human was far better than backwards

it had a really good story line, and although I love red dwarfs humour, actually had some seriousness to it that was awesome
 
I preferred Backwards, was light hearted and kept in style with Dwarf. Last Human was incredibly dark and morbid in places, just unexpected. This said, both are absolutely excellent. I may read them again.

Is it just me or whenever i see the trailers I cant help but think that Danny John Jules hasn't aged at all compared to the rest of the crew :D

Did you see him in Death in Paradise? He certainly looked a lot older in that!
 
I feel quite ashamed - A teenager during the 80s, i never saw one episode and never since. It just never appealed but I was tempted recently to watch the entire catchup series.
