Post Office Compensation

This thread is funny. Stupid people.

Why didn't you try saying you'd make a mistake and got mixed up with something else you posted, it is in fact only worth £40?

Yes, yes it does. Banking is a large part of the Post Office's business

Exactly, my point is they should distinguish banking/phone top up/insurance/all the other carp they offer so that people who actually want to use the Post in Post Office don't have to stand around for HOURS unnecessarily.

Or you could just be patient.

I shouldn't have to wait as long as I have to in there, simple as. It's a post office, I want to post things, there's no need for them to give other customers priority when their main business is posting things. There are plenty of other places that people can bank in, get travel money, get insurance etc. There is nowhere else you can post parcels.

I've stood in the Leeds central Post Office for 45 minutes waiting to post one parcel several times before they implemented a ticketing system. But they still need to segment customers to different areas IMO.

There are other postal services. Its more efficient for them to collect from you (after all they have x vans already delivering stuff) rather than having physical offices across the country.

I find the staff vary massively from one Post Office to the next. Some are great, some are complete bitchwitches and absolutely bloody useless.

I forget which Radio 4 show once had a little disclaimer type warning that "Customers should stay away from the counter staff who are dangerously rude and unhelpful".

I've got agree that the one thing that irks me about the Post Office is that I only ever use it to post items, certainly in the cities I find it takes a long time to que because most people are shopping for other services.

My local one in London is quite big and has a window specifically labeled 'Fast Drop Window for Internet Customers and Special Delivery'.

Once, I'd paid for and printed all the postage for the 1st Class Recorded items I was sending online, however you still need to physically pick up the postage receipt so that you have a valid way to track the mail and have the signed for sticker put on.

Seeing the 'Internet Customers' sign, I went right up to that window and the guy said it was for Special Delivery only & even though I'd paid online, I would have to use the regular que. So I had to que for about half and hour, just to have somebody put the stickers on and give me the receipt, negating the fact I'd paid for postage online. So I don't even bother with online anymore.

I still can't work out though whether the guy on the 'Online Window' just didn't know what he was talking about, or if it's just mislabeled.

I might have to claim for something lost by Royal Fail, sent Corsair a broken flash drive and it's not turned up, that was two weeks ago.

They expect me to wait 12 weeks now before starting a claim, complete joke.

Did think about that but didn't want to get drawn into a debate and have to deal with their rapier like intellect :D
