Post your 5820k overclock

I'll post my batch number tonight and post what clock I can acheive under the "safe" voltages of 1.35v core and 1.95v CPU input.

Batch no of mine is.

L443C361

Bought it second hand along with the motherboard, ram and a 128gb ssd for £400.00. Previous owner had several 5820k's as he's into extreme benching for team gb. But he couldn't recall what clocks this chip reached.

Got asus rampage v extreme 32gb ddr4 5820k and other goodies from ocuk on a drive up on the weekend

Thought i had really bummed out with a duff mobo and cpu at first

To cut it short ..........

Rocking at 4.8 now all threads on, ddr4 3200 reading at 2999.3

Vcore in cpu-z reads 1.328v

Happy is an understatement lol

Took me a while to get to grips with the bios layout, as i came from an i7 920 x58 setup !!!

Absolutely loving my rig now

Well, gonna see what gains 4.7 to 4.8 has got me in x-plane :-)

Edit : Will add batch # tomorrow

Shame it isn't stable :p

4.8 works fine and will bench fine but 4.9 crashes as soon as I start a benchmark.

Well i just lost stability on my 4.8 oc grrrrrrrrr

Back to 4.7

Weird thing ....................

Mobo is an asus rampage v extreme, latest bios 2011 off the top of my head ......

I have saved all my profiles, but after the 4.8 went wobbly a while ago, when i get into bios to load default or rather the tweaked default, then enter windows then reboot into bios to load a known working 4.7 profile .........

It reboots from bios showing 1000x36 on my asus front lcd gizmo then shows 1000x0 !!
But if i power off psu, then back on, then into bios and rechoose a profile, all seems well !!

Also, on my initial bootup screen it's always showing 3.3ghz not my actual overclocked speed

Ohh well, back to upping a voltage or two lol

Yeah 4.8 wasn't stable in the end for me even at 1.35v, ran stress tests fine but would blue screen after a while.

My wall seems to be 4.7, anything past that requires an insane voltage bump and just isn't worth it. Anyone running one of these at 4.8 and above rock solid stable must be in the top 1% of chips.

I know the american site silicon lottery that sells cherry picked CPU's have said only something like 11% of the 5820k's they've tested will do 4.7, so I'm happy being in that percentage :D

I hear you

I jumped right in from an i7 920 x58 setup (damn what a great cpu that's been)

I was panicking at not getting a 3.8 stable, then as i learned and read up a bit well it all fell into place

I am chuffed at 4.7 solid, weird my 4.8 was aida64 stable, but booting into x-plane 10 at the second loading (airport choose screen) the cursor stopped then worked, got from heathrow to eham (cant rem airports real name so that's the code lol)

Then boom, bsod 101 error

But heck i am solid stable like yourself at 4.7 and i am totally chuffed still hehe

Helped build two systems with 5820k's over the last month. One chip went to 4.1Ghz 24/7 It could hit 4.2-3Ghz stable-ish but it was ridiculous to get it to that point.

The second one did 4.4Ghz with a 120.2 watercooling loop.

I will need to check the specifics of mine when I'm home as well, but I run a 24/7 OC @ 4.5ghz.

Vcore - cant remember but its 1.2#v # = value I need to check, I think its 1.25v

Temps wise - I haven't seen it going over 44 degrees on full load, and that is on air.

4.5GHZ at 1.25v

5820K> J Batch bought last week, 4.9-1.35Vcore unstable in RealBench.

ATM 4.5 with 1.290v for 24/7, core temps 53'c to 61'c, RealBench stable.
Most of the bios settings are Auto a part from Ram>timings+volts set, EZ/XMP, TPU,EPU switchs still disabled[default].

Well 4.7 is failing stress tests now for some reason, ever since I tried pushing it, I've reset CMOS and used the exact same settings I had before but I get an instability detected error on ASUS realbench during the handbrake test.

Previously it would run for hours fine, probably damaged the CPU lol. Come to think of it after setting everything back to auto I got a bios warning on reboot saying CPU overvoltage and for some reason it was at 1.5v for a few seconds, that's probably what did it, thanks ASUS

I have a j batch, not really played with it. I'm buying the parts for a custom loop next month, so looking forward to seeing what it can do.

EHAM is Amsterdam (from a previous post)

I've just stuck with 4.3Ghz at 1.2v and 32gb ram.

To be honest it might be able to do it with less volts but everything is rock stable so far and temps are good so I'm happy with it as it is.

I need it to be rock stable with the 32gb ram for DAW work so not going to try and get anymore out of it.

got a L batch. Not the lowest voltage yet as I haven't messed with it enough.

Passed 1hr RealBench @ 1.22v in bios, 1.219v in windows.
