Why do Overclockers only offer 4.2Ghz on their X99 bundles?
Also, maybe that 4.2 is the highest asus's software auto tunes to ?
(what i meant was, if the asus sw can clock to 4.2 it makes sense to me from a builder/sellers pov that that's a good oc and is likely going to stay stable, hope that makes sense)
Have people bothered with cache/uncore overclocking on theirs? I'm at 4ghz on that atm.

well it does go higher on auto doesnt it.
on asus boards it is so easy. auto oc it asks you what pc configuration you want gaming so on. select what cooling you are using then go.
it will oc reboot then just go back in bios up the multiplier to x45 .most new chips with decent cooling will do 4.5ghz. which will take minutes.
hi i got mine set at 4.4ghz and its not stable for me. it crashes randomly and is et my volates to around 1.21 and no joyI hear you
I jumped right in from an i7 920 x58 setup (damn what a great cpu that's been)
I was panicking at not getting a 3.8 stable, then as i learned and read up a bit well it all fell into place
I am chuffed at 4.7 solid, weird my 4.8 was aida64 stable, but booting into x-plane 10 at the second loading (airport choose screen) the cursor stopped then worked, got from heathrow to eham (cant rem airports real name so that's the code lol)
Then boom, bsod 101 error
But heck i am solid stable like yourself at 4.7 and i am totally chuffed still hehe
