Post your bikes thread

The DHM's are a bit of a fiddle to fit, but I imagine all the other makes would be the same. It's one of those situations where you can just about get a spanner in at the back of the frame spars and it allows you to turn it about a mm at a time before you have to pull the spanner back out and relocate it on the head of the nut to allow you to turn it another mm. :p

Different bike, but the DHMs for the SV were absolutely rotten, you could tell immediately when fitting that they were generic fit bodged for different bikes, the whole right hand side bung was only held on with about 3mm of thread on the M10 bolt. Motrax refunded mine after I filmed myself snapping it off with my bare hands  but despite promising to change the design, they never did. Not to say they're all bad but I'd approach with caution myself...

GSG Moko make good bungs, R&G make some good bungs but some of 'em are completely rotten... Like, for the new Z750, the left hand side bung doesn't stick out as far as part of the engine, so it'll never touch down in a crash  And the SV ones collapse in low speed crashes. But some of them are really good.

What mileage is it sat at m8?. Service intervals are every 4500 miles alternating between minor and major. Major ones are the "valve clearance check" ones which require the check done on a stone cold engine. Make sure you ask whoever is doing it for the clearances they read afterwards as well and keep a note of them. Major service also includes most things you would expect like oils, filters, plugs, coolant change, brake/clutch fluids, brakes, throttle body Co2 check and adjust as well as the valve clearances.

You are looking at @£120-£140 for a minor service and around £300'ish or slightly under for a major one, prices inc parts.

Hoops?. I can highly recommend Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's. Sticky, great "feel" and don't go "off" towards the end of their lifespan. I get about 2500-3000 miles out of a rear and that is with fairly spirited/fast road use. Good price too.

It's approaching it's second service - 4,600 miles - Think that's a minor one. Thanks for the tyre recommendation - I'll give them a try.

I will second the 2CT choice.

I use them on my CBR 600 and i wish i had used them long ago, the grip you get is outstanding and especially in the wet. The mileage that you can achieve from them is great, im seeing just over 6k on the back, and far more on the front.

3rd on the 2ct, they feel really good, not that I'm some kind of knee down hero... but even in wet I've yet to have one let go

and this winter got 4k ish from a rear, which is plain amazing...

Was a lot more fun than I expected! Has got screaming eagle pipes on it so the sound was addictive when riding :p
Goes quite well gets upto 90 no bother but stops there :p and to my disbelief They can actually corner lol, just not slow tight stuff, was scraping the footpads then :D
Once you get used to the gear changes and the fact engine braking is better than both brakes together you can have some fun on it!
Still not for me though!

I've never seen anything funnier than one piece leathers on a harley. it just screams wrong,

when I get older and the octane leaves my veins I may well go for one of the bigger cruisey harleys but at the moment need the output from the v-rod

I know it's 400cc's bigger, but I was getting 170 miles out of a tank caning the Fazer. I filled up the Falco Monday on my way to work & had to refill TWO days later! I think I'm getting about 110 for a full tank :(

That's quite a cost to swallow! :p

Sounds good tho :D

Oh & the small reserve caught me out. I'd get about 30 miles out of the Fazer....guess who ran out of fuel last Friday... :o
I use to get from full tank to reserve count down mileage after about 80miles on my gen2 FZ1 fazer :(
