Post your christmas bonus

It instills a sense of loyalty...and it's a small price to pay. :)

Yes, it does instill loyalty - but when was the last time a firm was loyal to an employee?

So dont kid yourself. I don't invest in any role in work, simply because I know that my employers would **** me over if they thought it served them.

I thought that the idea behind a bonus was that it was awarded according to company profitability. Employees receive a bonus as a reward for their hard work, which brought around such profitability in the first place.

It also encourages them to sustain or better the quality/quantity of work they put in over the past year :)

Our bonus is determined by the success of the company, your performance and the success of the department in that order.
I was expecting to be crapped on as I hadn't been there long enough to have a performance review but I was pleasantly surprised.

I would have got £300 and a bottle of champagne...not bad for a waiter! But to get this you have to work 28 days in December      Yeah, right...although you do get triple wages on New Years Eve.

I'm not kidding myself in the slightest, I know my employers extremely well and they are the biggest bunch of cutthroats I have ever met (i'm really not exaggerating either). They have no loyalty at all to any of their employees...even people who have been there for 30-odd years have been cast out over the smallest of things.

My point was that employers will use every trick in the book to get the workforce to feel like they are valued, and a small payout at the end of the year is an easy and cheap way to do it.
