The S5 from then only came as a V6 petrol, people are gonna know the second they hear it.

Like a guy local to me who has a rep. spec diesel C class Merc dressed up as a C63. If you're going to try and fake it, a C63 just isn't the one to pick. They sound like an approaching storm :p

Username change to matt200? :)

Ha ha maybe.. I must say the thing (BMW 123d msport) is actually growing on me the longer I have it.

It just refuses to die.. well.. in one. The boot often doesn't work and the idrive is on the fritz so the sat nav doesn't work and there's a bit of a grinding noise that would suggest a drive shaft is going.. a bearing died recently but seriously.. 25k+ a year, ever year and it always turns on and goes.

Just seen my first Alpine 110 in the flesh...and on my very own road, as it happens.

Well, not strictly on my road...I was walking the dogs and saw it pulling out of the close just round the corner from my house. Didn't have my phone on me to grab a photo, but I think the driver was the guy around the corner who already has a Ferrari 488 and Porsche 911 on the drive. I may take the dogs for another walk later and make sure I take a route past his house...

I think they look fantastic on the road. Saw my first in town the other day which was a standard silver and even in that colour it looked fantastic.

Just seen the new BMW X7 in the flesh (weirdly not noticed one until now) and...yep, looks even more hideous in the flesh :p

Literally no nice angles. I took a photo, but then deleted it in disgust, on one wants to see that.

Here you go.

Initial thoughts... not anywhere near as quick as the GLS63 it replaces, but much more comfortable. It's the X50D so shifts a bit but when you've been spoilt by the power of the AMG for the last year it feels slower. The gearbox is pretty impressive in particular, much more athletic than the AMG. The heads up display is awesome, the whole level of tech is just insane, but then the only box that wasn't ticked on the options list is the stupid Swarovski crystal selector. Having seen it in the flesh, I should've pushed for it but whatever, still a blast to drive and as long as you don't mind picking things out from its teeth, like pedestrians, cyclists, buses, etc. Might take it home for the weekend and pretend it's mine, we'll see.
