Touchscreens don't belong in cars. At all. They are impossible to use without taking your eyes fully off of the road.
The worst 'development' there has ever been in car interior/tech design.

Car makers remove buttons because it's cheap, and also means they can change and reassign everything without affecting instrument panel tooling/investment. So it make sense to do, just nobody likes it.

It makes sense in saving them money, it doesn't make sense for the user experience and as shown it can be dangerous as well. If there's a setting that needs to be changed while driving, there should be a button for it. (Unless it's one tap away on a touchscreen which isn't as bad)

Most of these features do not need to be activated or adjusted whilst driving though. Those that do shouldn't be on the infotainment system.
