vastly underrated car the VX220. Developed alongside the elise, it weighs 930kg and had a better engine than the elise. The turbos were mental and could be easily tuned and lots of people supercharged the NA model which resulted in cars with 300-500bhp.

Even the non tuned/modded cars gave you 230bhp which was good enough for 4s 0-60 time. the tuned turbo or supercharged ones drops to 3s.

Prices of them have started to rise recently and they are tipped as future classic investment. decent clean ones now change hands for between £18k and £28k. Pretty much exactly what they cost when they were new.

I always they were essentially the same car as the else, just more boxy looking. That is quite a bit more than an elise though (weight wise) isn't it?

Just checked, elise weighs about 725kg, turbo vx229 is about 900kg. I had in my head that elises only weighed about 600kg for sone reason.

It is. The vauxhall is bigger. Elise S1 is 731kgs, the vx NA is 870 kg and the turbo is 930kg. But the bigger more powerful engine gives you sub 5s in the non turbo car vs 6.1 in the elise S1. The elise only had 118bhp to play with, the VR220 NA is 197bhp. The later elise got 160bhp engines but weight rose to 770kgs.

It may have been - I'd just picked up my Wife's birthday cake from Parade Tearooms and was desperately concentrating on not letting it slide off my lap (in my wheelchair).

Some of the penthouse apartments on that terrace go for about £750-900k (2/3 bed, 2 baths), but most are let out to international students with very deep pockets.

There's a guy near me with N1 on his RR. Lives in an ex council house worth about 100k. His car is probably worth about that too. Seems to be a completely non-descript bloke.
