It's to save the kids :D

When I was a kid, I never really looked for cars on side streets. You could just hear them, now with all the electric cars I bet kids are getting hit by them more than petrol/diesel cars

More are being crashed too apparently (lots more, like 50%). Insurance premiums are going to pile up for EVs

Im all for EVs making some kind of extra external noise for low speeds so people can hear them. But this is another level. Its for all speeds and purely to make the car try and sound good/better

VAG's been putting "soundaktors" in their cars for years, and Renault famously had a system which tried to mimic almost any engine noise. I don't mind it, bit of fun. Cars need more fun nowadays.

They all sound awful though, like sound effects from a game. Often not even that good. Combustion isn't a noise which can be convincingly reproduced digitally.

Audi RS6 Avant Performance.

Had a brief blast in this today, it’s got under 100 miles on the clock (registered on Wednesday) so wasn’t given the full beans by any means, even so, wow!

Mind bending performance (especially given it’s still running in and being driven relatively sedately) even so, even driving it “gently” it’s a wild horse that doesn’t like being reigned in.

I’m not an Audi fan.

That said sure, I wouldn’t be crying in my coco pops if I had a new one sat on my drive!

This thing though is next level, crazy performance for something of this size (especially when you consider it’s not yet getting the full beans!) the ride surprised me the most, so smooth and subtle, no harshness, no crashing over bumps, nothing. My sisters A35 AMG by comparison is extremely harsh even though it has nearly 300bhp less than this monster…

I’m impressed, my view of Audi has changed!

I’d always assumed a lottery win would have me heading toward a high end BMW M car, maybe not now..

Just need that damn lottery win! :D

I’m the meanwhile, I’ll carry on enjoying the silver beauty in the background…. :o :D

Parked outside the gym today. Loving the colour. Not such a fan of the four wheel kerbing and silly ride height.

Bonus points for the numberplate I guess?
I love e38’s, that’s no secret here, that though, just no.

I’d turn that down in a heartbeat no matter what the price!

Pity it isn't actually a "Fiddy" though. Just a 740i.
Even so, the e38 740i is a lovely thing, just - for me - not that one by any means.

I always found my 735i more than enough, the 740 (especially in 4.4 guise) is a league above for sure, that said having owned a 735, 728 and driven the 740 and 750, for me, looking back with a hint of nostalgia, I liked my 728i more than the others…

Whilst it didn’t have the straight line performance of the others, it certainly had the best balance in both handling and certainly running costs.

I’m always looking at the e38 market (which is nuts these days) that said, I can see myself back in a late 728 Sport more than any of the others even if money wasn’t a problem…

Of course, an Alpina B12 would cancel the above! :D
