Post Your Daily Encounter Pics Here

How come you're not using those curvy aerodynamic trailers that the M&S lorries use? Or are they just a marketing gimmick and don't have an effect?

The latter imo, the M&S style trailers with the sloped roofs are all well & good, but they don't have the payload capacity of a regular trailer.

When I took that picture, for example, it was loaded with 52 pallets which were "double stacked", i.e. one on top of another, you won't fit two rows of 26 pallets in a curved roofed trailer.

Ultimately, what won't fit on the curved trailer goes on another truck & trailer which seems to defeat the object somewhat!

Gimmick indeed.

Can't you jack up the spoiler on the top of the cab :D or is that too much faff / make no difference
Its set up for our standard trailers which the majority are either 13'3" or 14'6" whilst you can adjust the air deflector on some tractor units, its difficult to access not to mention most have never been touched so are seized and won't move anyway.

This is a 13'3" trailer, as you can see, its nice & streamlined.

This one is 14'6" but the air deflector still does its job despite the extra height, it makes little difference to consumption etc.

Saw this RB320 Scoobaru parked at work, looked quite nice both inside & out:

Here's the first CR-Z (I think) I've seen, didn't look too bad but there was no way you could get anyone above 4ft in the back seats!

I just can't take to the CRZ. The shape looks all wrong from loads of angles. There's no "flow" about the design aesthetics, looks like a badly executed kit-car design ( just my opinion, mind  ).

*EDIT* Pic 3 above, that Escort looks stunning.

R420LA6X2/4MNA out of interest what are the boxes at the sides of the trailer between the truck and trailer wheels? And why do american trucks not have them hence making driving a car underneath possible (fast and furious :D)

The boxes are to improve airflow - they are plastic and whilst tough, they won't stop a car. Behind them, are underrun or crash bars - that will stop a car - such as the ones in this video, why the Americans don't use them is beyond me, there is a campaign to change the law over there...

Knew a lad that came off a motorbike and went under the wheels. Lets just say he was very dead very quickly.
