Been scanning in some pics of my Dad when he did some amateur racing years ago.

Slightly older than most of the pics in this thread but here is my Dad racing a modified/lightened E-Type at Thruxton in 1975:

Have some more pics of him racing, but those are probably the best, may create a thread later....not sure if I should put it in motors or motorsport forum.

Enjoy :)

don't see many of these anymore, this one looked in mint condition, saw the guy driving it about an hour later, he only looked mid- 20's. Fair play to him, i loved these cars....

Also, saw a Mk1 cortina yesterday, but was driving so no pics.

I just look on Car Salvage websites out of pure curiousity sometimes and stumbled across this today.

How does one go 10 miles on a brand new car and write it off? Must have been a very unlucky day and hopefully GAP insurance was purchased!

Some insurers will do a cover similar to GAP insurance if you are the first registered owner and keeper and the car is 1 or 2 years old. If you fit criteria then they will replace with a brand new car.

Wonder if that got written off before it even got delivered.

With 10 miles i bet that was written off as it was being driven off the boat. Saw it happen on Traffic Cops before. Guy worked at the dock whose job it was to drive cars off the dock, into a holding yard.

He turned up drunk one day, proceeded to drive, and then stick it in a ditch and roll it and write it off before it had even made it to the showroom.

*edit* looking at it, it has a number plate. Guess it must have made its way to the dealer and been registered then. 10 Miles though ? ouch. must literally have been on the day she / he got it.

At Donnington Park - Dunlop Touring Car Championship.

Awesome day out and surprised by the number of A1s in the car park, all different specs and models. 8-)
