In a world of my own
I've been having a bit of fun last night going over some old gaming retro sites and realised that I've actually been playing computer games pretty much from the beginning of the big computer game boom. I had one of the first consoles you could buy in the UK - the Soundic "pong" console. Ironically we were a bit poor back in those days - my dad worked on the milk and my mum worked in Boots, I was only 7 or 8 and we didn't have a TV! Dad won the console on the company Christmas raffle and then went out and bought a second hand black and white portable television for us to play the console on. :)

Here it is in all it's glory:

So what consoles/computers did you have and when did you start playing?

:)

MSI 6800 from USA - didn't play ANYTHING but you could "toggle" the switches to make light patterns on the box.......

Dad got a "pong" chip from the USA and made a circuit board for it. [electrical engineer/genius] [try living upto THAT :<{ ]

ZX-80 was first "GAMES" computer.

Commodore Vic 20 - Omega Race

OMG, I had one of those and remember that game. Wow blast from the past, it too was my first home computer. Or a computer my dad got for the family.

I think my first REAL computer for me was an Amiga 500 + with F1GP.

We shared a commodore 64 and remember playing pole position was it, and harrier attack.. I managed to get an Amstrad CPC a year after but we had to sell it as we had no money..

Our first console was a NES, but we had to share it, and it hardly got used... Games were too expensive. The first console I purchased was a SNES, got it when I finally got full time employment. Along with the Amiga 500+, and those were happy days....

We've come a long way since then..

I remember us (my dad really) having a ZX81 when I was a kid but can't remember the games. I do remember playing Fire Ant and Manic Miner on our Commodore plus 4.

My first computer was a Commodore 16+4. I think it was an updated version of the Vic20, but I'm not sure.

I moved onto a Commodore 64, then Amiga.

First console was a Megadrive.

Computer - Amstrad CPC 464+ (although my elder brother had an Acorn Electron I think)

Console - Master System 2.

i was a ninty green screen original.

wow tetris...Super Mario. Zelda!!! (yes the good one, Links Awakening!)

then i fast forwarded to the PS1 and missed everything inbetween.
