Post Your Garden!

I've got that exact same paint on our garden fence. Really rate it. The water does beed off it when it rains, which should hopefully help with panel longevity.

I'll third that, has to use £300's worth to do our back garden but the paint is fantastic. Have their anti-slip decking on the way too so i'll see how that goes.

Gave up trying to manually rake dead (after treatment) and live moss from my lawn and this evening purchased a lawn scarifier from Screwfix. Its amazing how much it pulls up that I could barely touch with a rake. I'm haappy I've bought it but now unhappy I'll have to wait a number of weeks to see any improvement

Pic #1 Halfway through. I set it to medium and while I'm sure there's more moss and thatch in there so I'm also thinking not to overdo it and fix it up in stages (or perhaps autumn) so my lawn recovers quicker to allow Badminton to continue asap. As per Screwfix reviews on the scarifier I bought, I ran it without the small collection box which fills up too very quickly.

Pic #2 Now Complete (or main secrion upto half way round the pond). I manually raked up much of the non collected moss into a few piles then took the lazy option and mowed the lawn as I consider my Briggs and Straton mower just as much a hoover as a mower :D

Totally filled up my standard standard sized brown wheelie bin with what the scarifier brought up and that included having to jump into it a few times to compress it down :p

looks good mate, I've got lots of moss on my lawn too!

how did you think this scarifier did? I'd imagine you could have also raked it out manually.

what are the plans next for the grass? are you going to re-seed in September?

the problem I got with reseeding is - I think you got to keep off of the grass
so I might have to do it in zones.
September might be ideal. how do I know which grass type to buy? so it matches existing grass etc

Do it in ****** weather months so you're unlikely to be on it anyway. You use the lawn a lot in January? :p

Regards grass type, I don't bother trying to match it. I just get a bulk bag of seed from Amazon, top dress and overseed the whole lot.

I use this stuff and am a fan. Most of the negative reviews are due to retardation.

Removed everything but the tree. Some roots would just not come out!

Any tips how to remove the stubborn roots? Or just leave them in?

Also, there is a lot of grass/weed left - do I just use a strong weed killer before planting?

thanks!

I used this a few weeks ago:

massive difference the grass is looking very green now! best its looked in years.

however, I'm still plagued with moss, I've used a rake to get some of it out but it isn't totally going away.

any tips?

also when you throw the seeds in, do you use a rake to dig the seeds in?

For moss I use iron sulphate granules from Amazon and an electric scarifier / lawn rake (Bosch verticutter).

When I seed, I tend to get soil down and level, then seed, then cover with a layer of compost to keep the seeds close to moisture.

thanks, electric scarifiers look expensive to me.

I will stick to my trusted rake with an extra dose of patience . :)
