Post Your Garden!

Who’s started mowing this year?
Mine is in desperate need of a mow but it’s so damp still. Was going to do this afternoon as it looks to be sunny today but now the forecast has changed and we’ve got rain in a couple of hours.... lol

I have cut the two front lawns as the ground is dry - we are on sandy soil which is good in one way but bad in another - My lawns have gone yellow which we think is due to rain washing any nutrient in the shallow top soil away. - This year I am going to try and keep up a feed program of at least every month or perhaps every two months.

Getting through the list.

- Sort out the flower bed on the left, we have some big lavender plants that need removing and some more bark to put down.
Done the wedding and planted a couple of flowers, still needs a little more planting.
- General weeding.
Done, added the weed control behind and around the planters.
- Pressure washer the path and area in front of shed.
Not done.
- Properly plant in the raised bed at the front of our main patio.
Added a few new plants that will take time to establish.
- Buy a double egg swing chair to go where the 2 seater and table currently are, in front of the summer house.
Added, lovely chilling on this in the sun.
- Gravel/stones to the right of the path, and sort out the overgrown plants there.
Not started.
- Buy corner seating area on the main patio area (bottom of the photo out of shot).
Parked until next year now.
- Some more Cretecote on the sleepers.
On the list over summer.
- Bench to go between the veg planters.
Still deciding on this.

As you can see from the photo we have a double swing set which we can swap out between various attachments, our son loves it. Now I need to find a new spot for the rotary clothes line. Also added some solar lights.

The veg in the planters is growing well.

New addition to the garden meant changing the patio around a bit.

Was supposed to do my first cut after work on Monday but there was a shower, same last night. Looks like it'll probably be Friday evening at the moment as there's a couple of days of ok looking weather and not too cold overnight as well.

My old scarifier broke (40 yrs old) so a new one -Lidl special and it's twice as wide as old one with collection bag at back - It's not completely successful as top of bag drops and grass won't blow in so easiest thing was take bag off and collect up with mower.
Got a load out -This is second scarify -first was set at 6mm and this at 9mm - deepest is 12mm.
By the way this scarifier also comes with the cutting blades - I used sprung tines

I will give it a week then perhaps feed it - I seeded this lawn way to thick

The state of the garden from when I first moved in just under two years ago.

How it currently is today.

It has taken some time to try and tidy it up with soo little spare time to use.

Still loads to be done, need a new patio I also need to rip out the grass and start again since its all uneven. My idea is to raise near to the house and have a little wall that can be doubled up as seating on the patio. Yet I have no real idea what I am doing .

Any hints tips would really be appreciated.

Looking for some ideas in this thread as we’ve got a large blank canvas to work from. All we’ve done so far is dig up the builder’s rubble, level and grass seed. Grass is starting to come through now, fingers crossed.

Tbh when our garden was just grass it was great to look at and say hey we own this area ,but usability wise apart from 5 a side and throwing sticks for the dogs it didnt feel a very inviting usable area ,we (mainly my ex) decided to create areas ,this is her tranquility area ! (off to the left) then shed and green house ,fruit trees below this pic ,lawn ,graveled bbq area ect
also by building structures vertically , you have an extra dimension and light and shade

Obviously bought loads of plants but mostly in bargain basement ,the old log sleepers free off a farm

This garden is the living room garden ,great for a quick cup of coffee and fake grass to avoid mud

Wind has dropped so finally got to weed and feed the lawns - treated myself to a cheap battery powered spreader - it is cack but easier than doing it by hand. Just sounds like the batteries were well on the way out.

From this I seeded it after that long hot spell we had and it did come up but right at the end of the season so since them till today I haven't touched it other than weed and fed it a month ago and today gave it it's first cut - I am quite pleased with it- It is a bit patchy but hoping they will fill in over time.
I used bowling green grass.
